I know, I know that this has been discussed before, however I did do a search and could not find the answer that I was looking for. All I need to know is whether these products that are below are good quality or not and whether anyone else has them installed on their 4R's. Not sure how else to post links- so please forgive me if the links are too big-
Thank you so much for your help

If you like the running boards for the stylish look, then get them. BUT if you want them to step on, step up, step down. Reconsider. I had them put on my 2011 4Runner SRS and they do not project far enough out from the car to be useful. I have a size 8 women's shoe and I can not even get the ball of my foot on, nor even if I use the side of my foot. I have slipped off several times too!

I called Toyota and there is nothing that can be done.

Now I just added my ski pod to the roof rack, the crossbars are all the way pushed forward...and I can not open the hatch back fully with out it hitting and scratching the back of the "spoiler"

UGH.

Hi KIMBEE,
Thank you for letting me know. Does anyone have recommendations for running boards that are functional and do not look bad either? How about mudflaps? I would be willing to buy if someone is selling. Please let me know

I, too, found the factory running boards to be too recessed to be useful. Fortunately, I discovered this during a test drive at the dealer and I didn't waste any $$$ on them.

I've been happy with the Steelcraft nerf bars. They stick out further and are useful for my wife and kids.

Glenn-Law- thank you so much for your reply. How much did the steelcrafts cost you and where did you order them from? They look like they would be very functional and they look good too. Did you install them yourself? Was it easy an easy install?
Sorry for all the questions.

I think it can be adjusted, you can lower it down a little bit, not much only about 1cm.

Glenn-Law- did you get the 3" round step ones? If you did not, which model did you get? Thank you so much in advance for all your help with this.

Chet - just keep in mind that some of the nerf bar / running board options prevent the installation of mud flaps or will require extra mods to make it all work. You can find some other posts on this, but just know ahead of time that front-wheel mud flaps will be a challenge.

Rear wheel mud flaps will of course not touch the nerf bar and are not an issue. At least that will keep stuff off your rear window.

MudGuard-Running Board Combination?

As a follow up to my last post about this topic- does anyone know of a combination of mud-guards and running boards that does work? That is there is no fitting problem when both are installed?

these are a lil cheaper than your link above:
TOYOTA 4RUNNER 10-11 OEM 4PC MUD GAURDS FLAPS SPLASH - eBay (item 120677529881 end time Feb-27-11 09:50:59 PST)

and these are the Canadian version that specifically says they will fit with the running boards (OEM boards i assume):
OEM Toyota 4Runner Mudguard Set - Canada - eBay (item 350436727289 end time Feb-09-11 12:05:06 PST)

theres is someone here selling their canadian version mudguards.
