Running Boards for 2011

Hello All,

I just purchased a new 2011 SR5. I am interested in adding the factory toyota running boards. I noticed on the Toyota website in the "Build your car" when selecting the accessories, there are 2 different running board options. One is designated as ( R/6 ) and the other one is ( R/8 ). I spoke with my local dealer and they said that one of them is plastic and the other one is aluminum. Has anyone had experience with these and/or have photos you are able to post illustration the difference. Per the dealer there is about $135.00 cost differential between the two of them.

The running boards that came on mine are extruded aluminum with black plastic endcaps. There's a chrome strip down the edge that does match nicely with some of the chrome accents on the truck. I don't think I've seen the other variety anywhere locally.

BTW, mine are for sale if you're interested. They've only been on there a week or so.
 
the best price i've found for the OEM running boards is via ebay. Several toyota dealerships..yes dealerships are selling them for 280 plus 45 shipping. They are southeast dealerships that are able to get the running boards, unlike other toyota dealerships in the nation. toyota is weird like that apparently.

i want to buy some too, but, honestly, i saw a pair yesterday on a sr5 at the dealership, and it looked to me like there isn't a lot of footing to be able to stand on it. check it out for yourself.

The South East dealerships have their own part number for their own (i suspect) running boards and I'm not 100% sure they are OEM from Toyota. They may be from a Toyota dealership but not from Toyota.

The South East Toyota dealership running boards are p/n 00016-89035.

The OEM Running boards from Toyota are:
p/n PT925-89100 for the SR5/Limited
and
p/n PT938-89100 for the Trail Edition
 
I'm curious to see if anyone has compared the non OEM South East ones to the OEM ones for the SR5/Limited.

On ebay, you see the OEM's for sale and the South East ones for sale and they both "borrowed" the same picture off the net.

Would love to see pics of actual boards comparing them

2011 T4R Running Boards

This summer I purchased a 2011 T4R-SR5. Last week I purchased OEM running boards. The boards don't work very well. They seem well built and are sturdy but because of the trim piece at the bottom of the 4runner, there is not enough platform to stick your foot. Mine only has about 2-3" that stick out far enough to get my foot on. This is not enough room to feel secure about stepping on especially if there is snow on them. I am sending them back to the dealer but have to pay a fairly high return shipping fee. Be careful and know what you are getting. Like I said they look good and seem well built they just do not extend out or down enough to make them work the way they should and provide a very minimal stepping surface.

2011 SR5 Running Boards
