Running boards on a 3rd gen

Right now I have factory running boards on my 98 4R. Debating whether or not I should take them off or leave them on. If you guys don't have running boards could I see some pictures, especially if you still have the factory lift.
Also, what is the easiest way to remove them?

Or just sell them and get nerf bars instead. Nerf bars offer more aggressive style and will look better than runningboards. Check out http://4wheelonline.com/Nerf_Bars.19775 for some options like Go Rhino and Westin.
