Running boards or take off ?

What do you guys think, Lane the running boards on or get rid of them ? Trying to figure out which way looks better.

Take them off. I debated for a while as well. IMO leaving them on just looks too civilized. Plus everytime I got out the back of my pant leg would rub against them. Love the look of mine with them off.

just take them off for a few days and see how you like it. they're super easy, just 8 bolts per side.

Personally, I like them on, especially with a lift. However, I know mine would have been badly damaged on rocks by now had I not taken them off.

I dated one girl who was 5ft max; she could not get in my 4runner without them. I am 5'6", and can't get into it with a suit on without them.

Remove them, and if don't like it, put them back on.

I took mine off, to me it looks way better and much taller, plus its not too bad to get into with them off.

Thanks for the reply's guys. I think I have decided to leave them for now with it being a street driver. When I decide to modify it and off road it I'll take them off.

I was reading this thread on a tacoma forum where a member took the seats from a scion xb and put them in a tacoma and they were much more comfortable. so I went to an auto yard and pulled a set and I installed one. I got in it and my head was literally touching the ceiling, and with the seat all the way back my knees were still touching the glove box. I went back to the tread and the guy said he was only 5'8, so im 6', and when I get in the passenger seat now I feel like im in a very small car, its funny how certain things work for some people and dont work for others at all.

Advantages of taking running boards off:
It makes the vehicle look taller
They will get damaged if you wheel it
Less weight on the vehicle

advantages of leaving them on:
Its easier to get in and out of the vehicle
If you keep them on it stops door dings
It hides the underworkings of the truck.

As far as my seats though the xb seats are way better than the 4runner seats, the mounts hold the rails above the floor pan, ill probably just bolt the rails straight down onto floorpan.

I like them off personally. Sliders are nice tho...

I left them on my 02 to keep it stock and it does not see as much dirt as my dd. Looks good either way, its a 3rd gen =)
