Running Boards Removed, opinions?

No boards looks real good on the SR5's with chrome trim. I have the same trim package that you do. I've debated taking the trim off, but I'm afraid it will loook too plain.

i took my fender trim off well a tree help rip one off looks better... not a fan of any fender flare stuff

Keep 'em off. It looks taller, better, gives you more ground clearance, etc... I've got the same set up except have got different flares- not chrome thankfully!

You didn't mention whether your dilemma involved pure aesthetics or functionality, but I will step in the mud here for a moment and offer a counter perspective to the majority. Running boards provide a small degree of protection from road debris AND off road mishaps, even if self sacrificial to protect your rocker panels. They also provide a much easier entry for the short of leg in your passenger battalion. I think they add a touch of class to the look of any vehicle, regardless of its intended purpose. If hardcore off roading is your game, then why not install a pair of chrome nerf bars? Tough looking and functional.

Looks really good without them! Clean looking truck man, those wheels look awesome with the flares. Some sliders between those duratracs would be sweet

Apparently I've dated myself, and need an education in the modern vocabulary of the true off road enthusiast; of which I am not. I thought "nerf bars" were those devices designed to protect the rocker panels of a vehicle whilst traveling over less than ideal terrain. I stand corrected. :thanks:

Nerf bars are rounded tube that act as a Running Board without the flat look. Running Boards and Nerf Bars provide some degree of protection from Carboard boxes and such. however, while OffRoading your Vehicle, they will get smashed up pretty good then look like crap.

To the OP. Leave them OFF. Looks good!

i only approve of running boards on late model limiteds with the large flares all other runners should lose them and replace with sliders

I want to ditch mine but I have kids that need to use them to get in... as it is I have to step over them.
