Running Boards

A lot of people take their running boards off. They are useful for shorter passengers.

Then again, I don't use my 4R as an off-road buggy, so no ground clearance issues concern me, and I like to keep my vehicles a long time and in as good a condition as I can over that period.
The seats in my 2000 Tundra (SR5, cloth seats) still look new and haven't worn on the outside edges or had the cushioning collapse out there either.
To each their own, but that's my reasoning for actually using the running boards on my 4R. Plus, mine are illuminated and are easy to use after dark.

I totally know what you mean. The seats in my parents Suburban are worn at the side AND they have running boards. Lol.
But yeah, they do help in other situations too.

Short people just use my sliders as steps. When I say "short people" I mean my girlfriend. :lmao:
Before I had real sliders welded on, the stock tube steps were just a pain. If you stepped directly down, you would get your pant legs dirty, wet, etc. If you stepped out onto the steps, it's almost like you had to step up, before you could step down.

I surf every day so i use them to put surfboards on top. I didn't know if the tube on the sport was good or big enough to stand on. Down here (Mexico)they don't sell the sport so i couldn't see one first hand only the sr5 & limited are down here. Was going to get a 09 now i just gonna get a 06 or O7 used limited to the new ones comes out(2010) to see if they change it much or at all

IIRC, The tubes bend really easily on rocks while off roading. I have the running board steps and wheel a lot and ive hit them comin down some rocks and they look like nothing has ever happened.
