Running rough

Well not really rough, but in some aspects it is. Its a 2003 V8 with 71.5k on it and I've owned it for about a year. Just recently ibstarted noticing it started running a little rough, you can feel it in the steering wheel, on the shifter knob, and on the door panel. You can hear it, too. I'm thinking spark plugs and fuel injectors. I ran a bottle of gum out fuel injector cleaner and didn't notice much of a difference. I just put premium in it and I can feel it has gotten better but is still slightly noticeable. Any opinions. I don't know the service history, so any input would be nice. :thanks: :hatsoff:

I'm going out on a limb here but I think you know EXACTLY what the answer is to your question.

At minimum, you should be able to figure out the search function.

Really helpful. Since I'm 1) on my phone and 2) tapatalk crashes when I try to search I can't search, but thanks for the heads up and jumping to conclusions, sir. Good day!

If it is injectors...then Gumout isn't going to help. I've never had good luck with that stuff.

The only injector cleaner product I've found that actually works is Seafoam and Techron. I haven't tried them all...but those too seem to work.

71k....if the plugs haven't been changed yet...it's a good bet they need to be. I'm pretty sure the 03 didn't come with Platinum or Iridium plugs.

My friend's Nissan Maxima had a fuel injector go bad causing it to run rough. I haven't seen any threads here about bad injectors but it wouldn't hurt to check them with an ohmmeter. If they need cleaned the best way I've found is to put them in an ultrasonic cleaner for a while, the kind you get to clean jewelry with. I'd try changing the plugs first though.

I figured it was the plugs tho... Runs a little touch and MPG is like 12.5 city... I mean a Sequoia gets better. Don't drive like a bat out of hell (anymore) and I can feel a slight loss in power. I put premium in it and its a lot better than 87 but ifs still there, just 100x less noticeable.

As soon as I get the money I'm getting plugs, does anyone know what gap it needs to be and the part number for the iridium/ platinum plugs? :thanks:

I think the plugs in the 4th gen are supposed to be changed every 30K miles. I would definitely give that a shot if you haven't yet.

The v8's were like 120k I thought. At least they are on mine. I just hit 120 and need to get around doing it.

Btw, my truck, on those original plugs is still as smooth as silk.
