Running Wire Through the Firewall/Rubber Gasket in Firewall

I need to run some wires through the firewall and I was reading on some forums that you need to ensure that the once you have run the wires through the firewall to clean it up and ensure it stays water proof. I was going to run the wires through the rubber gasket into the cabin.

I was wondering if anyone has run/punch through cables/wires through the firewall/rubber casket and how they made sure that it stayed waterproof.

just drilled a hole in the rubber gasket the size of the wire.

Did you use anything to make a seal afterward?

seal? no its a rubber gasket or plug, so it already makes its own seal.

I drilled a hose the size of the wire then used a glob of clear permatex just incase any water finds it's way up which is not likely.
