Rust on an 04 4runner. Covered under warrenty?

As I was crawling around under my 4runner changing the oil I noticed that it's beginning to rust in several spots. First the arms which connect to the wheels on the front are rusting. The shock mounts and some engine mounts are also rusting.

I sprayed them with some rustoleum to see if that'll slow down the rust.

Is this covered under warrenty? The warrrenty states "5 year body panel corrosion perforation warrenty" so I'm guessing it's not covered...

no, like you said, it has to be rust that causes a hole in the body. My Rav4 was still less than 5 years old with some major rust (for a 5 year old car), but since there weren't any actual holes through the body it wasn't covered.

yep, the key word is "perforation". In modern cars the rust warranty is pointless IMO. I've never heard of a late model car with rust gone through a panel in under five years. Surface rust, yes, but serious hole-generating rust, no.

The surface rust you see is probably won't get too bad anyway.
