rust on engine and catalytic connector block

is it just me or is all the rust normal - 2005 v6 4wd?

I thought rustproofing treatment was something the dealership did during their acceptance inspection before the customer took delivery of the vehicle. I've seen this on larger block truck engines before so I assume it's normal, but it does look discouraging to say the least. I'm picking mine up soon and hope it doesn't look like that, but I will let you know.
 
Look at the exhaust manifold of a car. It looks the same. It's happening from the heating and cooling of normal use. Wait till you look at the muffler and undercarriage of your truck
