Rust on the dip stick and tube

Recently I found sth like iorn rust on the oil dip stick and its tube. Most of them accumulates close to the end of plastic handle, also some is found on the body of the dip stick. Today I stopped by a local dealer and they replied to order a pair of new dip stick and tube to change. Anybody has this problem too?

Mine is 05 4runner SR5 v6 4*4, just 5,300 miles.

Just curious, is your runner garaged or usually parked outside? How does one get rust on the dipstick? I have an old Acura and I parked it outside in San Francisco for almost 12 years. It did accumulate some rust in the engine bay but never on the dipstick.

It is parked outside. My 97 camry too but dosen't has this problem. During last three month, I found there was some white dirt around the hole of the tube and the upper end of the dipstick. Since in winter here uses lots of salt, I just thout some salt accumulated there, however, this month I found the color changes to iron rust brown. That's why I worry about it. The dipstick should be made of stainless steel and I don't know what the tube is made of. If it is made of plain steel, it may rust. If not, I have to suppose the brown dirt comes from the engine. I will pay attention on the new set.
