Rust: What can I do while waiting on body shop?

Got a new to me 2007 (from up north) with some moderate rust on the frame and components underneath.

I am waiting on a body shop to check it out and hopefully fix any big problems. The problem is he doesn’t have any appointments until September.

Is there anything I can do now that’s relatively quick to stop the rust from getting worse between now and September? Is there something that won’t affect any repairs the body shop may need to do? For example I don’t know if I should use rust converter because it may hide some of the bad places.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I'd ask the body shop you're planning on using.

The rust has been developing for 14 years. Two months isn't going to matter.

Yeah I just poked a couple holes in my frame with a wrench. Been advised to part the truck and trade it in.

Soooo I did exactly the opposite and sourced a frame. Going to try to swap it in the driveway since no one wants to take on the job without a 10k price tag.

Plan with the new frame is to sandblast it down to bare metal. Eastwood undercoating on the inside, gusset some weak points on the frame, and por15 or agriguard on the outside. Then probably a yearly application of fluid film.

Problem is if there is one rust cancer spot, more than likely there are going to be multiple.

Fair point. I just took ownership of the vehicle so I just wanna do the best I can to stop the bleeding.

A couple of holes doesn’t seem bad enough to start parting out, unless they’re really big.

Hope everything goes well, sounds like that will be a major job.

was wondering if any one has seen any issues with the body at the frame mount rusting. is this even fixable? i was worried about the frame first one iv seen with the actually body having holes in it
