Rusted rear latch change whole door ?

I have a 2018 limited and the latch is about to fell from the door went to 2 jobber they both told me that I have to change the door ! Any idea solution to fix this ?4runner rusted rear door latch - Google Photos

You should have put a "Viewer Discretion Advised" warning before the link to that picture. While I don't have any suggestions, how did that happen to a 4 year old vehicle?

Holy hell, that is terrible. You could fix what you see there if you have a mig welder and a bit of practice, but that likely isn't the extent of the rot. What's with the duct tape? If the drain holes were taped over, that could cause this issue.

What is the Toyota warranty for corrosion in CA? Down here, I believe it is 5 years, unlimited miles, if you get perforation of a body panel, they replace it.

That door is 100% toast. If that's the only significant rust on the vehicle my money would be on a window leak. Water will still pool in the inside of that door a bit even with the drain holes, esp if you're regularly parking on an incline.

Rusted bolt plate leak down and made rust the latch … bad design get a quote 3000$ to change whole door.

Ya , that needs replaced. What's the frame look like?

This is the warranty for USA and you need to take it to a dealer or contact Toyota .Not sure it's the same for Canada but should be .

Any problems that your vehicle has with corrosion or rust is covered with the Toyota Corrosion coverage. This coverage grants the replacement of any original body panel. The Corrosion coverage lasts for the first 60 months of ownership, regardless of its mileage

1) "the back window rolls down" is still the dumbest thing about the 4r.

2) how does the gov of any country justify the use of road salts? A nice car in salt areas is a waste of time/money.
