Rustoleum Paint Job (Spray vs Roll)

Tape off the repaired rocker area and monstaliner that; run a strip of liner along the bottom of the truck. Polish the red you already have. Have you ever tried to paint a red wall white? It takes about four coats. Color changes look like butt unless you dismantle the whole truck and paint the engine compartment too. Spray bomb paint does not have UV protection in it. Neither does roll on Rustoleum.

I would look for a local trade school or high school that offers a body shop class, you buy the supplies and they do the work.

Yes you are right, maybe bedliner would be a better alternative? I know red to white is harsh, but of course I will sand the entire truck down, and I know it would be cleaner with a white engine bay, but I was thinking of doing the borders white, and leave the rest as is. (black) since I live where salt roads are our best friends (pff) even if i paint it white i will have to regrease it wich will become black. I would love to take the engine out but I don't have a garage, and I also don't have the lever crank thingy (dont know how to say in english, we say a goat or a giraffe in french) ^^

Iv'e seen people paint with durabak also, seem's legit. and the reason I dont want to put a 3000$ paint (or even more lol) on it is simple, I don't need it to be perfect, and I live in the rust belt, I will have to redo panels and rockers in a couple years so... maybe even doors and ect

I did the rustoleum roll on with my first gen. There's a write up buried somewhere in the first gen forum. Total cost was about $150. That included a sawsall for some fender chopping rust. I wouldn't do it again. It took 12 coats to get a good look. Of course I was going from black to yellow. On a nice sunny day you can squeeze in two coats but they take about an hour each. It looked great for about 2 years, people were surprised when I told them how I painted it. Now it's bleached and looks bad. It chips easy and doesn't polish well.
