luckly the bumpersaved the car from more damage..
it uprooted a mail box and only scratched the paint off.
sadly i think my it is totaled.. insurance said it would take about 3weeks before they looked at it.. the frame is bent, and we couldnt get the rear hatch to open. but im hoping to get it back so i can star fresh with a new runner.

glad to see your okay. Gotta watch that stereo... I rear ended someone in my 4runner long ago doing the same...

At least you have good insurance and not liability only.

Sorry to see your runner in that condition.:cry2:

Glad to read you are OK though. Good luck with the insurance and repairing/replacing your 4runner.

Props to the Outdoor Logic front bumper! That mail box didn't stand a chance.

Ugh, that's a sickening sight. Glad to see your ok. though.. that's what matters most. I hate to see another awesome built rig go down.

So what exactly happened? You looked down and nailed a brick mailbox? How exactly did you get all the other damage?

well looked down hit mailbox looked up and the airbags deployed, and that caused my foot to slam down on the pedal iguess out of panic and i ended up ~30 ft from the mail box and then by the time i came to the realization that i was florring it i was in the middle of the grass...

Wow. Glad you're fine, and that it was just a mailbox. Just today, I was wondering about the quality of those OL bumpers....because for some reason they kind of looked "thin" when I looked at pictures. I guess they are pretty darn strong.

WOW ... looking at the pics I think it could have been a LOT worse. You missed a pole as well.

You stand a good chance of having all the repairs covered if you have full auto coverage. There are several members who had this happened and the insurance paid out in full.

BTW - I have to ask .. were those the original Toyota ball joints, after-market (moog, autozone), or recently replaced Toyota parts?

I should have read more closely. Now I see you mentioned that you were not looking at the road and it wasn't a part issue.

I assume you must have been checking T4R.org on your phone - cause this site is addictive.

BTW, it might be a good idea to take the $$$$ and fix it yourself. Be sure to show them receipts for ALL your upgrades, they are required to pay for that as well.

This 4runner is a total loss. A 96 4runner and the airbags went off, - its gone. Bent frame - its gone. He tweeked the body so hard that the tailgate doesn't open smoothly. The OP definitely needs to buy it back from the insurance company and find a another 4runner to switch the parts on too.

The sad part is that the insurance company probably won't give anything extra for the mods unless he added it to policy before hand . IE aftermarket bumper and wheels. The funny part is the stock bumper cost more then the aftermarket one.

The important part is that nobody got hurt.

I am sure the owner of the mailbox is PO'ed. It looked liked like a Fort Knox mailboxes.

Where I live every mailbox looks like that.

Well good thing your ok and that is def. a toughass bumper, if you dont end up getting another runner and if you buy yours back for part out let me know I like the look of your lift.

I'm really glad you made it out without any serious injuries man! Too bad about the rig man.......and hope insurance doesn't lowball you on your truck's value!
