Safety "Latch" for Seats

So I recently folded down my seats to fit my DJ system in my car and upon folding the seats back up (and the seat cushion back down), I noticed a metal latch underneath the cushion (the bigger one with the middle part connected). When I fold that cushion down, it seems to rest on top of the receiving latch instead of falling underneath it. Is this normal? The cushion is sitting probably a half inch above the other one.

Did I explain this well enough? Suggestions?

I had the problem you're describing once and it was because the seat belt buckle for the middle seat was in the way and not letting the seat go all the way down. Make sure it's positioned in it's little depression between the two rear seat halves.

I have an '03 so it's possible your seats have a different configuration and if so YMMV. Good luck.
