safety lock help

somehow today my mom tried to open the door at the back but she couldnt, i think its the safety lock problem because i can open from outside but she cant open from inside.

anyone know how can i reset it? thanks

it is a 2003 sr5 v6 4x4

safety lock is the other way around i believe, its a child safety device so they cant open it while playing around in the back.

I am a little confused by your post, it can't be opened from the inside, only the outside, correct? If it is the child lock that is usually just a manually flipped switch on the door(http://www.daihatsu.astra.co.id/xenia/images/child_lock.jpg). If you open the door, and look at the flat end (where the door latches to the car) there should be a picture of a lock with a switch next to it, flip it the opposite direction. However, I don't know the 4runner that well yet so it might not be there, but every other car I have ever seen has had the switch in that location.
