The service manager ordered an OEM pedal for me free of charge. They are also installing a module to my stereo to connect to my smart phone or ipod, and gave me a loaner car, all for free. I'm still pissed that they did unauthorized work.

I have two 4 Runners and haven't been here in a while. I just received the recall for the BST smart stop technology and googled it and was directed to this link. Glad I popped back in I remember being addicted to the reading here. I WILL NOT BE PARTICIPATING IN THIS RECALL

I noticed this recall listed when I first signed up on Toyota’s site after purchasing my 4R and wondered what it was exactly. And it was exactly what I figured it was.
I guess I’m lucky that they didn’t do this when I took it in for my first oil change and my serpentine belt. Good on their part though for not doing unauthorized work! I’m glad it wasn’t done to mine, and if I ever need to take my 4R into the dealer again I will make sure to tell them not to perform the update.
