Saggy Bumper issue,,please help!

wondering if anyone had an idea, free or super cheap hopefully,, of how to fix the rear bumper, I think the last owner backed into alot of things, bending the bracket? possibly downward...got underneath it and couldnt figure out how to go about it...it looks like a saggy assed 4runner, but its only the bumper sagging!:moping:

Clarifying,...the brackets look ok, but it would be hard to tell if they are bent, whats an effective and safe way to bend those brackets upwards a little?
Eventually i want to get a new wraparound rectangular steel bumper painted to match the body, but until i can afford to have one made with d ring brackets, i want to try and make this one flush...

Hard to tell from your photos whether the problem lies in the bracket or the bumper. your best bet is removing it completely. this will give you a better idea of where you problem lies. if your saving for a tube bumper id say it would be a waste replacing it woth something from a parts truck. maybe just see if you could mallet or bend your bumper back.

again withour seeing exactly what is out of shape its hard to tell. aswell if the problem was caused by backing into things or maybe alot of weight on the bumper like someone standing on it and jumping

thats the exact same thing as my 4runner. i was just going to ether take it off and go from there or somehow push it up using a jack or something

Try using a jack and a piece of wood or two in between to get the height you will need. Just keep cranking up the jack until its flush. I doubt the rear bumper will support the weight of the vehicle so its likely it will just bend back into place.

EDIT: And I would bet money if the previous owner took it in the mud, he had a couple of guys jumping up and down on the back trying to get traction after he was stuck. If you have a few scratches on the lower part of the rear tailgate (from muddy shoes and small rocks) then that's probably what caused the bumper to dip like that.

Yea, im going to try jacking it up by the bracket and hopefully the weight of the vehicle will push it up a bit, we'll know after this weekend if thats gonna work, otherwise taking it off and going to try something else:toilet3:

Never been offroad til I got it, an old lady owned it since new, all service records and a flawless undercarriage to prove it, until I got it, now its broke in a little,i think when she got it detailed the people washing it etc stepped on it and while trying to clean the top bounced on it a bit causing it to bend, also theres dents in that area on the bumper, making me think she possibly backed into somewthing and bent it...just theories though.

well i tried the jacking up the bumper theory and i could hear it trying to move but it didnt budge so im just going to take it off now

tried to jack it up to no avail, so took off the drivers side bumper end and loosened the passenger side and bent the brackets back into place, problem solved, though the space is bigger than it used to be, oh well good enough til i can afford a an aftermarket rear bumper
