Saggy Seat Syndrome

I have a 5spd,

My seat, or bottom seat cushion seems to be either worn or tilted towards the driver door.

It could be from years using 5000lbs of force to press the clutch pedal down that wears the left side of the seat.

Any one know any replacement seats that fit our vehicles?

I looked up the price of the seat cusion and nearly fainted.

I've got the same issue on my driver's seat, it hurts my back on long drives. New seats is on my short list of things to do this summer. You can make nearly anything fit, but bolt in is tough to find. Pretty well count on making adapters for whatever you end up with.

I read on here the passenger-side bottom seat cushion (not the entire seat) can be swapped with the driver-side one. If your passenger seat is in better shape perhaps you can swap them. I assume this is only for SR5's non-power seats.

I have not done this myself but am concidering it. After looking at the seats, it appears possible.

Actaully that is a good little peice of advice thanks.

I could switch the passenger seat out but then they would suffer..

I wonder if anyone has ever gone to one of those apholstry places to get the seat redone?

Im going to try to contact one to see what they can do on thursday.

Swapping cushions is a good idea because the saggy side of both seats would then be too the inside, which isn't as bad as to the outside.

I have the limited leather interior and switched the seat bottoms between the pass and the driver. Its not hard.

As far as the junk yard..... just no, those cars go years without doors or windows, the seats will be moldy.

How do you swap them?

I assume there is no cutting required?

I swapped the bottoms of my power seats, it's pretty easy. Take the seat out and remove the plastic side pieces, then remove the 4 bolts holding the bottom cushion. That's it. If you have the passenger airbag sensor you have to pull 2 hog rings and pull back the cover a bit to get to it. It's glued in place but comes out easy if you're careful. I did this entire project including swapping the sensor in under 2 hours.

I know that some guys in the 1st gen Tacoma's are swapping in Scion seats. Not sure which model the Scion seats are from but I am sure a Google search will return some good results!

Used this DIY to swap my bottom cushions over last night, made the process go very smoothly! My manual seats had a few small differences, but no biggie. The difference it made is huge though! No more feeling like my seat was leaning towards the door, much better than before.

If you carry in just the seat bottom, a local upholstery place can re-stuff the foam for reasonable dollars. IF you have them remove and disassemble the seat, the price gets much higher.
