Hey guys, I am back. Just had a few questions. I was able to source a decent mileage transmission through forum member Absalom in Denver! Shout out to that dude coming through ten fold for a total stranger. :thanks:

Few small concerns while waiting on it, I've got everything set. I have two bolts left holding my trans in and am going to drop it as soon as I get the new one to my house. I used my Chilton for most of the direction.but I have a few questions.

1. It says to mark the torque converter before you drop the trans so you can bolt it back up the same position? The transmission I got has one on it.

2. Same goes for the transfer case to front propeller shaft? I marked both and then after taking off the front I realized I won't be able to line up the bolts as they were because the transfer case will be the new one?

Any tips and or tricks for putting it back in would be appreciated. It was tedious pulling all the random bits but not to bad. Thanks as always guys and gals. Cheers :hunter:

I think that's a precautionary recommendation for vibration issue but when replacing assemble u will have to go for it and hope for the best .... Unless u want to transfer piece from old to new assembly .... Personally never run into a issue with it luckily knock on wood...

Nothing you can do but line it up the same way on the front and rear diff and hope for the best. It should not be a problem.

Just a few last min questions. I have my old trans pulled and set aside if I need any little parts. New trans came in today. Looks perfect. Just a few things.

1. What specifically do I need to do to make sure the torque converter is seated? The new trans came with one on it that the PO said it was perfectly functioning. I just wanna make sure it didn't come out of what from being shipped......

2. Is there and rhyme or reason to re installing the torque converter bolts? I have a torque wrench I'll be using to is it just the reverse of removal? Rotate crank, install bolts, install cover?

3. I did notice the linkage on the new trans is missing the nut so I can't tell if it's in neutral or not..... what's the easiest way to find neutral? Aka...all the way forward then one click or something like that? Be able to spin the output shafts?

Any other tips would be appreciated! I made guide pins from bolts so I can slip it into place easily. It's all straight forward but I am always second guessing myself doing this alone. Thanks everyone!

3. When it park, viewing the driver's side of the transmission, it is rotated fully clockwise in park, so one click counterclockwise for neutral.

Did you get it installed yet? I'd definitely do a drain n' fill, and check levels before driving it, if it were me. Keep us posted!
