Just a heads up on a very good experience getting an exhaust manifold for our Tundra. Napa wanted $220. Rockauto wanted $143.

In general, industry standard in salvage parts is to grade the parts. I have used pick and pulls all the time with great success. But, you have to be aware that used parts, are used parts, and that stuff may be bad.

Now. As for an exhaust manifold. Not really anything that can break. You want to check it for cracks, large cracks or holes. Small crack, like along a seam I wouldn't worry about. Look for those large cracks that would cause enough exhaust to slip out to fail an emissions test.
