So I discovered this site while looking for junkyard Tundras to do the brake upgrade, then found this:

If the min bid is $25, after taxes and fees, it'll cost $426. Only 2wd, but looks like it'd be a great DD with a little TLC or a great parts truck. That or simply buy and sell...looks like the title is blue...

Not quite 4runner related, but one could make a killing on cheap parts vehicles from this site. Buy it cheap then sell it bit by bit then finally sell the rest for scrap metal weight.
A bunch of 'flooded' vehicles in Houston that still start too, that insurance just wrote off. There's an '11 Rav4 with 88k that runs and drives but 'flooded'. Change fluids and plugs and filters and should be good to go. Obviosly not hydrolocked.

One could buy a wrecked Tundra for as low as $426, take the brakes for the upgrade, part out the rest of it, then dump it...

I'm a true miser at heart...

Strange question but I've dealt with salvage auction in the past and typically u have to provide a dealers license to even purchase is this the case with this site
 
From what I can tell, no license required. I read through all their rules and regulations. It looks like you can only purchase 1 vehicle with the free account, and the premium account is $200/ year. Really not a big deal if parting vehicles out will be a semi-regular thing. You can make that money back easy. Premium account also offers 'live' online bidding, not just the eBay style pre-bidding.

I'm constantly looking for a 4Runner that has the pink milkshake and is for sale because I have a completely rebuilt transmission from a 98 that's ready to go in and then I'd sell the 4Runner and hopefully make some money.

It does look to be in pretty good shape, minus a couple dings and the paint. Obviously there's no warranty or refund; it's all 'as-is'. If it runs and drives well enough, then just turn around and sell it. Hell, when towing it home, just drive straight to the nearest CarMax or dealer and unload it.
If it's more work than described, then just part it out.

That makes sense to me. Surely one of these auction sites would have something like that occasionally for pretty cheap. No way to specifically know, though...


I'm currently looking to buy a house, so I can't have a potential immovable parts vehicle in my rental driveway/garage if I'm going to move soon, or else I'd jump on this in a flash.
There are plenty of other vehicles that I'm seeing were 'repossessed' as well at auction, not just 4runners. My wife is already in this with me on this idea once we buy a house.

We already have a resale 'business' (hobby) that we kinda started accidentally, but it took off.
We found someone throwing away a leather bed frame on the side of the road. I picked it up and brought it home, only to realize that it was a King size, and we have a Queen. I posted it on CL, and within 2 hours, I had someone come by and pay me $75 for it.
Since then, we've found dressers, armoirs, couches, dining chairs, TVs, monitor, etc. We clean it up good, fix what's necessary (usually just a bad capacitor in the TVs and monitors) and then stick it on CL.
Last year, the money bought us lower gallery seating Season Tickets to the Houston Broadway, and this year it's paying for a week long vacation in Florida next month.
A very satisfying feeling.

So honest vehicle flipping/ parting will be really fun for us. We love physical projects, and this will be a great way for me to teach her the basics of vehicle wrenching.

dealers and body shops, I just buy my "little" scratched donor 2000 T4R with SC by my friendly Body Shop. Pay $1600 :). Lot of good parts to transplant :)
