satellite radio antenna install

How did you all install a SiriusXM satellite radio antenna?

It depends on the type of mount/antenna. If it is a magnet mount for roof:

1) Determine where you want antenna - I have mine centered above the front windshield and reception is awesome.

2) Tuck wire beneath windshield plastic trim

3) Run the wire down along windshield until it enters engine bay

4) From passenger bay locate where existing wires are penetrating fire wall

5) VERY CAREFULLY feed a skinny metal wire (think coat hanger) with a hook through this opening. You could also tape another wire/string to small skinny metal wire and push wire all the way through this opening.

6) Attach satellite antenna wire to hook or tie/tape antenna wire to metal wire or tie to extra wire/string that has pulled through to engine bay.

7) Pull metal wire or sting back slowly through to passenger area and the satellite antenna will now be in the passenger area of your T4R

8) Route your antenna to radio and plug into radio

9) Use cable ties to secure antenna wire to tidy up your work.

I mounted mine inside the rear wing onto the metal bracket for the 3rd brake light inside the wing. Works perfectly and I never have to see it

I put mine inside the front end caps of the roof rack - satellite radio antenna under one cap, GPS antenna under the other. Completely invisible and works perfectly. Someone on the forum had a really nice writeup of doing this that I followed, and I could've sworn I bookmarked it - but I can't find it. I'm sure if you search you'll be able to find it eventually, or I can try to answer questions.

I ran my GPS antenna through the firewall grommet and up the side of the windshield and onto the roof, I have it mounted on the right hand side of the roof

Gps antenna doesn't need the same overhead view a sat radio antenna does. You can stick a gps antenna underneath the dash plastic above an air vent and it'll work just fine. No need to see the ugly thing.

Ran my wire from dash, up front pillar (behind the plastic) and along the roof liner (just pull the door seals to tuck it away) and then out thu the rear hatch onto the rear of the roof. There's about 4" of wiring showing as it exits the rear of the headliner to the roof. Been that way for nearly 10 years.

I put nothing outside.
My antenna in under the center dash grille.
You can also just put it on the dash at the base of the windshield.
It'll have an unobstructed view up without issue.

From here, I ran mine inside, under the dash, then out the trim panel (by the temp control) to the receiver. YRMV.
