Saturday, March 10th Lytle Creek Run

There has been a little talk about a March run coming up. I was thinking Big Bear, but that's a bit of a haul for the SD guys. Lytle Creek is off the 15, just south of the Cajon Pass. So the drive will be a little easier for all of us. It's been a long time since I've been up there- so I probably shouldn't lead.

Date: Saturday, March 10th 7-7:30a meetup at the Del Taco off the Sierra exit of the I-15.

About 8am, head up the road to the trail. I'd give us about 5-6 hours for time to mess around.

That makes two of us, small world. Just a fyi i live off sierra and 210 and regularly travel the fire roads in lytle creek and coldwater canyon has been closed for over a year. It is the road past the shooting range where the pavement ends.

According to the us forest service website it is not listed anymore as closed. I will take a look maybe tonight or tomorrow morning to see if it truly is reopened. I gave up hope and stopped going all the way to the end because it was always closed lol.:redbrick:

Pilot rock is nothing special, I have been with quite a few stock trucks that made it no problem. He just went right down a little rut, hit the brakes just at the wrong time. It really wasnt all that bad either He just flopped on his side and it stopped. Lucky for him, because it could have easily kept rolling. We were able to just push it over.

You all have fun up in lytle creek. Its been closed for as long as I can remember.

Yep. It could have been much worse. Rookie mistake. But we got it flipped back over and started right back up. Moral of story: When that little voice in your head says it might not be a good idea, listen once in a while.

Still have some repair work yet to do, but hope to get the dents worked out and get some painting done later this year.

Whats the difficulty rating on this trail? Also, would we be able to get by without a CB?

It's mellow from what I've heard, I'm not running a CB right now. We're not burning through the desert, so we don't really need CBs to communicate.

i didn't make it up to see if it is reopened, but i called the forest ranger office and it is still closed past the shooting range to 3n06 coldwater canyon.

That's an hour and a half drive.

But, I'm a possibility.

If we can't run Lytle Creek, we could always run Cleghorn.

I personally have not run Cleghorn, but from what I hear it's fun.
