Saw A Bear Today

I am on a weeks vacation in Enumclaw Washington, at my sisters house.

Took a drive up to Mount Rainier today and this little critter (200 lbs) was along side the road on the way up the mountain.

I was inside the park, no hunting allowed, but that did not keep my trigger finger from getting itchy. :sniper:

We watched him for about 20 minutes, the bear eating the whole time, and then he walked up the side of the hill and out of sight.

Sweet! We vacated in the mountains of WV and Va this past week and looked for bears the whole time. Didn't see one.

Cool pics!!
I have 3 black bears in my neighborhood who love to eat trash. Consequently, they are very fat bears. :) I've seen them every year for the last 4 years. One was a small cub the 1st year I saw him and now he's about the size of the one you saw (~200 lbs.). The others are adults and at least 2-3 times bigger.

I've never heard of anyone having any issues with them. They are very docile around here. I think it's because they figure, "Why would I chase you down when I can just sit here and eat this gooey rotten meat right here in this trash can?". Trash probably tastes better to them than I would anyways.

I always do a quick scan with my flashlight when I go out to my truck at night though. They are mellow bears, but I wouldn't want to sneak up on one!

Cougars are another story though. There have been a few attacks around here in the last year and the Sheriff shot one in my neighborhood about this time last year after it mutilated 2 pit bulls!

cool,
I was just in Yellowstone over the 4th weekend.
saw a Grizzly, Bison and elk. and of course some hot water here and there.

always cool to see bears

Did you guys hear about the grizzly attack in Yellowstone a few days ago? A guy from Torrance, CA. was killed.

Did you see the famous enumclaw horse? ;)

I'm from tricities, so we know all about enumclaw down here :P
Too Funny! :bravo:
Everybody gives me crap when I tell them that I am going to Enumclaw.

If anybody is wondering what we are talking about, Google...

my dog chased a family of black bears (mother and 2 cubs) up a tree in my back yard a few months ago.

It was an interesting experience, I'm lucky the bears reacted the way they did and my dog listened when I stressed the importance of us leaving them be.

Here's one of my Black bear encounters at Vermejo Park Ranch a few years ago.
My wife and I stopped fishing to have lunch and suddenly I wondered why it got so quiet.
I looked up and saw this bear approching from behind where my wife was sitting. I told here to get up slowly and get behind me. I made my way back to the Runner and had a choice....kayak paddle, 1911 45acp or my camera...

I choose the camera....;):

Black Bears just hate the sound of a camera shutter.
I've kept them at bay with just that for 30 some years of hiking and fishing in the mountains in New Mexico.

Good little Bear found a beehive in a log and has his own lunch finally.
I couldn't stick around after he pissed the bees off but there was a mess of honey in that log.
