ScanGauge Help

So I just installed a B&M tranny cooler (bypassed by radiator to prevent pink milkshake) and I would like to be able to monitor the ATF temps. I have read several threads on here about it, and it appears that 4R's come with a tranny temp sensor that can be read by a scangauge, or you can install a separate ATF temp sensor.

Is this correct?

The amazon page doesn't seem to state that it reads ATF temp, so I want to check with some of you that actually have it.

Is it really as easy as plugging it into the OBDII port and mounting the gauge? Nothing else to install?

Yes, but the scangauge doesn't come with the ATF temp gauge preprogrammed. You'll have to create an "x-gauge" with the correct codes. Search for the code on here, and you'll have ATF readings within 5 minutes. Really cool device. Just plug it in.

Ok, I was wondering what the x-gauges were. I found a post that has the ATF code.

I also found the guide for finding other codes http://www.scangauge.com/support/pdfs/XGaugeCoding.pdf

Anyone have any other codes they have found work for the 4runner?

I found the one on the Scan Guage site for HP(horse Power) works. Unfortunatley I have a 98 so the Tranny one doesnt work on mine, it is 99 and newer code.

Yeah the only x-gauge that worked with my 98 was the horsepower gauge. The rest of them-ATF temp, ambient air temp, etc don't work.

Ok, forum etiquette: Don't thread jack by posting a completely irrelevant question in another thread.

You are not even in the right section for that, this is the 3rd gen forum (up to 2002), you need to be in the 4th gen forum.

Please read the rules before posting. Your question will not be answered here.

mine is set to Display. MPG, Coolant Temp, Volts, RPM. All the standard guages work it is just some of the X-guage programmable ones that wont work for the 98.
