ScangaugeII Gauge code needed.

Does anyone know the hexadecimal code to display Outside (Ambient) Air temperature on my Scangauge II for my 2017 Limited? I tried the recommended generic one listed and also the alternate listed for PWM to no avail. I am sure it is floating around in all the bits and bytes of OBD2 somewhere. My favorite passenger often wants to know what the outdoor temperature is and the display is in front of the driver and not visible to the passenger. I did send a request to Scangauge but am not expecting too much as I did that before purchase and they gave me the generic code. If they come through with good one I will post it here but hoped one of the resident Toyota techs here might know the correct code.

There is a code listed for generic OBD2 but it does not display on the SG with the hex code given. Supposedly if the vehicle has A/C there is a signal put into the computer for outside temp. Of course this is from the internet but if you read it there it has to be true. Right?

I do suspect it is in the data somewhere and hoped Blackworks or someone could verify. A late model wiring diagram could probably confirm or deny as to whether it was routed through the computer.

A scangauge can't see everything the vehicle can, only what is reported to the OBDII system.

Edit:
I checked on my drive this morning and it looks like the intake air temperature ranges 10-15 degrees F above ambient depending on speed.

Thanks for the info on the IAT. I was wondering what kind of differential there might be. If I understand some of the research I have done the Ambient Temp does go into the computer as I read there is a P code that gets set if there is too much difference between intake and ambient temps which indicates a sensor failure. If that is true, the data should be available somewhere in all those numbers but might be hard to find. I was making the assumption earlier that since there is a temperature output to the driver information screen it should be accessible but it might not be in hexadecimal format which would preclude reading it with the scangauge. Generally though if there is an input to a computer the data does exist to be read if you have the correct location address.

i looked more and ambient air should be at PID 2122 with header 7C4 (and use value*160.655/255-9.94) but I have no idea how to program that into scangauge or ultragauge. torque app should be able to do it.

I responded to your other post. It is a built in parameter on the ulltraguage, so it is standard obdII/can. I verified mine matches the center stack reading.

Thanks to both of you for the info. I am going to try to do a conversion of the address to Scangauge. I will also look to see if the Ultragauge address formula is online anywhere. If nothing else this should be enough of a lead for Scangauge service to get where I need to go. Thanks again! This site always comes through.

Latest Update

I will be putting a data recorder on my 2017 Limited in order for Scangauge to determine what codes are available at the OBD2 port. This may find the elusive outside ambient air temperature address. There may be other PIDs discovered during this test so stay tuned, I will report back when more is available. The recorder will be shipped to me this coming Monday so there will be some delay before any results are available.
