Scion H/U in 91 Runner

Anyone else made this swap. I did it last weekend. Needed slight mods to the old brackets and plastic around H/U and dash, but looks really factory quality.

Problem is the front speakers are very weak. They were great with the old OE stereo.

Also: Any recommendations for replacement/upgrade speakers.

I replaced my broken front speakers with a set of Lightning brand speakers from Wal-Mart. They're only 4 inch speakers (I'm assuming the 91 model is similar to my 95 here), so they won't handle much anyway. But get some with at least a 25-50 watt rating and you should be alright.
Mine sound great!

As for the HU swap, I think if you go deeper into this forum (a few pages or so) you'll find examples of it. May be alot more in the Audio and Electronics forum of this site though.

Thanks...the speakers were replaced by the prior owner and I am wondering if there is an impedance mis-match with this amplifier or something. They definitely need to be replaced as they are way too tinny.

I would make sure you have good connections everywhere.

I hace two sony 4" 2-ways in the front and two 5.5" Rockford fosgate 3-ways in the back (took a little retrofitting ran off a pioneer deh-7200. sounds good.
