Scion Head Unit - it really is a big improvement!

I'm not an audiophile, but the stock 2006 sound system was a big disappointment for me when I got this truck.

Thanks to this forum, I sprung for a new Scion T-1807 from Ebay. I was a bit skeptical that it would make any real difference, but for the price ($90 shipped) it was worth a shot.

It only took about an hour to take out the stock head unit, bolt in the T-1807, and put everything back together - and believe me, it was well worth it! The combination of more power and some interesting sound processing & equalization options make a huge improvement even with the stock speakers. It isn't perfect - there is a little too much deep bass emphasis in the settings that sound best to me (tone control mitigates it a little), but it is a good trade for the flat sound of the stock unit.

I am thinking of doing the same....have a 06 sport with the Toyota in dash 6 disc changer with 6 speakers. What stock unit did you replace?

I replaced the single CD unit. I think there is a 6 disk changer version of the Scion unit, but it is usually quite a bit more. A search here will reveal more info.
