Hey everyone,
I am a new to this site as well as new to owning a 4runner, but I have to say that I like both very much! Anyway, I am pretty interested in installing the scion head unit in my truck, but I don't know exactly which one to buy off of ebay. If anyone has a picture of the correct head unit to post I would greatly appreciate it!

Any will work. since you don't have an '06 Runner you don't need the '06 scion unit. It has the input for the auxillary jack in the console. IMO the '06 units look cooler than the older ones. I'm not sure of other sound differences. The '06 scion units have a knob in the middle. The '06 xm/ipod units have a knob in the middle and one on each side. The older ones have no knobs, just buttons

This is a model #1807 and the same model I got.

This is the model #1806 with ipod controller and built in xm. They are more expensive.

Good luck. Maybe someone else will chime in on other feature differences. You can also search and there is one thread with +/-200 replies that will teach you a lot if you take the time to go through it.

Any Scion unit will work as long as you do not have a JBL system installed. But, depending on what your needs are, there are different choices.

If you require both MP3 and WMA playback, go with the 2006 headunits (T1807 or T1806). Like sbbamafan said, the T1806 has a built-in iPod controller so you can control your iPod with your headunit if you desire. I'm not sure if somebody has figured out the wiring for it yet.

If you only need basic MP3 playback, then go with the T1804/T1805. The T1804 is a newer version of the T1801 and the T1805 is a newer version of the T1802. The T1804/T1801 is just a basic one-disc CD player with MP3 playback and XM capability (you will need an external tuner). The T1805/T1802 are 6-disc in-dash CD changers with MP3 playback and a 10-color display change, also with XM capability. The newer versions (T1804/T1805) have SRT Sound re-touch system for improved MP3 playback quality and also have the ability to personalize the greeting (It usually displays "SCION" when you turn it on, but you can change it to something else).

I hope that helps you out.

Thank yall for all of your help! That is a lot of good info. I am watching a couple of radios on ebay right now! I'll post some pics of the install after everything gets done...

PS - does anybody know a way to get the "scion" that is written on the top left of these hu's off? That would look pretty slick if all it said was Pioneer!!

So far, nobody has told a way to do it without either marring or melting the surface. I have not tried yet but I intend to soon...
