Scion HU Install

Hello,
I'm considering purchasing a Scion HU to replace my stock radio in my 2008 4Runner. Does anyone have any installation instructions (or is there some already on this forum)? I've done some searching with no luck.

Let me add one more question...if I'm looking at purchasing one of these Scion units, any suggestions as to which one? Are there any problems with getting these installed in a 2008?

Not sure how you missed the Scion HU threads - most all of the recent ones are on the first two pages of this sub-forum. :confused:

Anyway, here are a few others to look at:

Here, I show you how to wire an Aux input to the back of the stereo. Should be the same for all Scion stereo models.
Scion T1807 stereo install in 3rd gen '99 Limited (pic heavy)

Install is much easier in the 4th gens, as you don't have to do ANY trimming of the stereo or dash. Literally plug and play install. Ya, that makes me a bit jealous.

Scion headunits

The following are the iPod compatible (the headunit controls and displays the iPod selections) T1806, T1808 and T1809 (cable required)
The T1806, T1807, T1808 and T1809 units offer an Aux input (cable required) to input other audio sources.
The T1802 and T1805 models offer the 6 CD storage.
The T1804 through T1809 offer satalite inputs.
I believe that these are correct - if not, I'm sure that someone will correct me.

Ok, just spent ANOTHER 1/2 hour reading countless posts.
Does ANYONE have a link to directions for taking the dash apart??
 
can anyone verify this?

I'm scheduled to have my Scion unit w/Sirius installed, and new components in the front doors. Labor/Parts is going to be $195 and I was thinking of doing it myself, but if you really do have to take everything apart like this it might be money well spent. (for me)
 
Yes you really need to take it all apart just for the head unit. BUT, do it yourself because its actually really easy. If you just follow each step it will be fine. Once you do it you will know how to so troubleshooting in the future will be easier, plus you will say "I was gonna pay 200 for someone to do THAT?!?"

Ive never done an 08 but i would imagine it is the same way.

Ok, just going to have them put the speakers in then. I'll do the HU myself. I'm thinking I may sell the Sirius parts anyway as I don't think I'd use it.
 
Pardon me for piling on: I just did it, and it was easy. I had gotten a quote for $300 to do the installation. It took 3 hours, going slow, being careful, and taking coffee breaks. Nothing scary at all, and I am a certified idiot.
