Scion HU

I thought the Scion HU was supposed to fit in the 3rd gen. I just a new scion hu and first found out i need a different wiring harness and that one i go to put the dash panel back on it doesn't fit around the radio. does anybody know how to fix this or have a mod for it?

What head unit did you buy, & what year is your 4runner?

mine is a '99 ltd and the deck I bought is out of a 2005 Scion. It is the same model as this one scion radio

Okay, I know the back of the radio is the same but the face is wider so you do have to make the hole in your dash wider, but the wiring I thought was the same, let me double check this & I'll get back to you.

There should be an amp that the wire from the dash comes out of right? Well if you remove the amp (4 screws), there should be 2 plugs that plug into that, take those 2 plugs and it should plug right into your Scion deck. I have a 2001 4Runner and this is what i had to do. Just remove the amp and those 2 plugs frm the dash plug into the new deck.

Does anyone have pictures after they made the hole in the dash wider. I dont really want to just start cutting away because im sure that dash trim is expensive and none of the junkyards around here have a woodgrain dash that I could replace it with.
