I did a search here and did find what I was looking for so, here it goes. I did the Scion radio swap in my Taco and a coworker has a 04 Runner and wanted to do the same his question was he has the rear radio control's will they work if he does the swap? Also he asked about the surround sound setting's if he would lose that. Thank's for all the usefull info that I have found here It has gave me some new Idea's on how to hook up my Ipod.

Does your friend with the 4Runner have the JBL Head unit? if he does it won't work with the SCION head unit. I thought only the JBL 4Runners came with the Rear Seat Audio and the surround setting, so that is why I'm asking.

Does his head unit look like this?

And his door speakers have JBL written on it and he's got a speaker above his radio on the dash?

Or does his radio look like this?

As far as I know you can't use a NON JBL head unit on a JBL equipped 4runner because the plugs in the back are wrong. Unless your buddy rewired the harness? The NON JBL unit has the amp on the radio, while the JBL unit has the amp mounted externally in the cargo area.

I will foward this on to him, he has a work car which of course he drives to work and leaves the runner at home so I have not seen the radio.

Hey sharp4runr did you have trim the radio to get it to fit in your runner? I know on the Taco you need to trim about a 1/4 inch on each side.

Sooo if you didn't trade out the radio bezel would you have to cut the bezel? The reason I'm asking is that I'm going to sell my Scion unit and I have cut it down to fit a Taco so if someone with a runner bought it, I didn't know if it would fit.

Thank's for all the help I'm going sell my 6 disk unit. I got lucky and had a friend who sold me a new 06 Ipod ready Scion unit.
