Scion Radio Play Mp3 Playlists?

Hi,

I was wondering if the scion radio supports mp3 playlists on mp3 cd's?

Also, has anyone installed a cd changer with the stock 6-speaker head unit that supports mp3's, preferably with mp3 playlist support?

not sure what you mean by playlist but I'm thinking it probably doesn't

you can however group MP3's into folders and jump from folder to folder which is much easier than skipping through 150 songs individually

ahh... ok..

is it slow with skipping from folder to folder?

what i mean by playlist is, if i were to burn a .m3u playlist, similar to what winamp would use as a playlist, if you could select that to select the cd you want to listen to..
 
Sorry for the ignorance but what does it mean when a radio can play mp3s? I have mp3s that I burn to a disc using Media Player and they play just fine in the stock radio. What the heck am I missing that's so great about a car radio that plays mp3s.

Please excuse my stupidity

When you burn those MP3's to a CD, they are converted to .WAV files and that makes the CD compatible with almost any CD player. Typically you can fit around 15-20 converted MP3's on a single CD.

With a radio that can play MP3's, then it can play the actual MP3 files, which means you can usually fit 150 songs on a single CD.

I bought the Scion head unit two weeks ago and I've got a couple of CD's with well over 100 songs on each one, which is great!

Quick question. Somebody is selling the Scion Head Unit and they make it a point to say "without the wires". That wouldn't matter to me correct? I mean, I'm just using the wires that the stock radio uses.

Sorry for asking this again, but do you find any lag when inserting the mp3 cd's? Like, it taking a long time to load the disc?

I'm not wanting a player with very much lag; so I'm trying to find out if the scion head unit does. I like the idea of a in dash cd changer that the scion does and not too many aftermarket head units offer that (at least, i don't know of any); i'm mostly looking at alpine right now because i hear their head units are very quick with mp3 cd's..

but it probably won't be for a few months at least before i get a new head unit, so maybe by then the aftermarket will have an in dash changer with quick load time, or i can find a good scion radio..

Yes, you will be using the same wires and harness that your 4Runner came with. You will simply unplug your head unit, and then plug in the Scion head unit, it really is that easy! :D

It takes a few seconds at the most to load an MP3 CD. There is a slight delay when skipping from one song to the next, but it is faster than the Pioneer DEH-P8400MP that I had in my Explorer last year so I'm happy. Obviously it won't be as fast as loading a regular audio CD, but the delay really isn't that bad at all in my opinion.

Well, I'm going with the 2004 that I won off ebay. $94 out the door. I'll take it. Can't wait to install it.
 
Just got my single disk Scion, paid $65 including shipping. Easy install, works great. Great temporary upgrade untill I save up for a Pioneer NVIC-A1 DVD/NAV

So you can random play all discs, and it will shuffle between the six?

The manual states that there is no support for mp3 playlists.

And it definitely does not support MP3 playlists as jj8111 said. It's in the manual.

I havent looked at the random too much. But I did notice that pushing the random button once will play the tracks in that folder and holding the random (until it beeps) will play all tracks in all folders, or so I was lead to believe. After holding the random button (until it beeps) the icon on the display shows a folder.
