will the Scion 6-CD/mp3 HD unit work on SR5-sport with Audio System 3 thats:
JBL AM/FM CD Cassette
Steering Wheel Audio Controls
Rear Audio Controls
10 Speakers
2 Sets of Wireless Headphones

No - scion head units do not work on the upgraded JBL systems. if you had the standard radio it would work.

that really sucks...
what are my options then? I'd love to have an mp3 player, yet I want to keep the steering wheel controls.

You can upgrade to an aftermarket headunit with MP3 capabilities. I think there's an adapter for the steering wheel controls you can use with aftermarket units, though I'm not positive. I think it's made by SWIX or something like that.

Yeah you have to go with an aftermarket stereo, or hook a ipod up to your jbl system. I have told all my friends who bought the 4runner to get the stock radio, then upgrade. They are all glad that they did. The Scion HU rocks....
