I have found a scion T1814 (part number: PT546-00100) HU for what seems to be a good price but I can't find any definitive information about what cable I need to hook up my ipod to it. Tried at the local Toyota parts department and they guy spent time trying to look stuff up but couldn't find anything and I can't find much online about this HU. I emailed toyotapartszone.com and they are suggesting part no: PT546-21062 and when I google it the pictures don't look like it would go into the port that I believe is for the ipod. The picture below is supposed to be the back of the T1814 and I believe its the grey port that is for the ipod. Can anyone help me out on what cable I need?

It looks like you could get a 3.5 headphone jack to rca (red/white) if you want to control it from the ipod itself. Otherwise, I'm not sure. I personally would go the aftermarket route if you're going to change out head units. That way you can get all the necessary pieces to control the ipod through the deck.

Thanks for the reply. The rca (red/white) are a subwoofer output, and the HU can control the ipod, you just need the right cable, which is what I am trying to find. From what I have found, its the grey port which is for the ipod cable but cannot find anything about which cable it is.

Have you looked at this post? It seems that the T1814 has a USB connector rather than an iPod interface like other HUs.

The cable suggested to you would fit a port like this one:

(Any T1809 owners?)

Arcking, thanks for the reply, I've decided to just go with the T1809 for now since I know which cable I actually need.

That is what I was looking at too, I have never bought anything off of ebay before and wasnt sure how. Let me know how you like it when u get it!

It is scheduled to get here on Friday and if I get the ipod cable that weekend as well, I may get it installed over the weekend, otherwise it might be middle of next week, but I will be sure to let you know how I like it and try and get some good pictures posted.

David,
I know you already purchased the t1809, however I found out that the part number IS in fact PT546-21062 and it will work with the t1814. Both ends are 32pin connections but the one that plugs into the back of the head unit is a little more "boxier" than the "rectangular" size of the iPhone/iPod connection that we are all used to. However, what I am finding out is that some of the iPod/iPhones either do not work with the cable at all or they work but just don't charge the iPhone/iPod. If this is the case you will need that extra part, it is called Schoshe or something. I still want the t1814 but I don't know if my iPhone 3GS will work with this cable. I dont care if it doesnt charge it but as long as it works on the music side of things I will be happy. Here is a pic of the cable:
