Scion T1819 Install issues

So I installed a Scion T1819 head unit in my 2005 non-JBL 4Runner today and it doesn't seem to be working properly. Looking for input as to what the problem may be.

I used the following adapters as suggested in other posts:

pt546-00120-ad
pt546-00120-ch
pt546-74120-mc

These were needed to connect the antenna, the unit, and the last one is the bluetooth mic.

I have two problems:

1) The unit will not pair (using bluetooth) with my iphone 4S. It just says "searching" for sometime, followed by bluetooth pairing failed. Yes, my phone has bluetooth turned on and is "discoverable" checking with other devices confirms this.

2) The rear speakers have no sound. Dialing the fader all the way to the rear...silence.

Has anyone else encountered these problems? This particular head unit appears to be in great shape, so I assume it doesn't have anything broken.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. I have purchased 2 of these units off ebay . One I installed in my 03 4runner and the other in my daughter-in-laws 2010 Scion XB. Both work fine.

As far as pairing with the phone I would first initialize the stereo to erase any previous paired devices. When you set the stereo to pair make sure you select the stereo on the phone. It will say car audio and make sure you select it on your phone and the stereo should pair with it real quickly.

I have been able to pair an Iphone 4s, 5 and a Samsung galaxy 4 to the stereo successfully.

I can not speak for the fact you have no rear sound. The stereo with the adaptor cables is a pretty tight fit in the dash. You might want to pull it back out and check the connections again.

Resolved....

Following up, in case anyone else has this issue...

Rear speakers not working: Easy fix. For some reason as I was shoving all of the wiring back in one of the plugs popped out. Once I opened the dash back up and saw this I felt a little silly.

Bluetooth not connecting: Not sure what was going on here, but once I deleted the "car audio" from my iphone, and unplugged the BT mic, then plugged it back in and did another search, it paired up just like it should. I think it may have been more of an iphone issue than the HU.

Either way it's hooked up and works great now. :drummer:




ONE LAST QUESTION:

The antenna adapter I used only had a place to plug in one (the larger of the two) of the antenna plugs. Is this what everyone else has done? Did you notice diminished reception because of this? I just let the small on dangle, should I have done something else?

I ordered a Scion T1819 Headunit for my 2003 4Runner as a replacement for the standard stereo. It looks like the install is rather straight forward. The confusion comes with what cables, adaptors, etc. will be needed. I have seen that the following are required:

pt546-00120-ad - antenna adaptor
pt546-00120-ch - wire harness adaptor?
pt546-74120-mc - microphone for the phone/Bluetooth

Is a separate cable needed for an ipod or iphone adaptor that will charge and play from the ipod or iphone? Is there a source for an 1819 manual anywhere. The guy I got mine from doesn't have one. Thanks in advance. Phil

ps of course, I bought this right after I bought an 1808, realized that the Bluetooth option would be pretty cool. I now have an extra 1808 and will have an extra stock 4runner headunit.

The headunit arrived today. The cables and other items are on order. One cable that wasn't mentioned is the Ipod Interface Cable SC12235. Is that one necessary with the T1819 and the use of an ipod? will the headunit accept both the ipod cable and the usb cable? Thanks Phil

You can not use the ipod adaptor cable with the t1819. If you want to use an ipod it has to plug into the usb cable you have to make up.

Well after doing a ton of research and buying a Scion T1819, I think that I may pass on the install. I ended up getting a Scion 1808 as well and I think that I will put that in for the time being. If anyone is interested in a mint T1819, let me know. Thanks for the info, it has been really helpful. All the best.

I have also seen pt546-00120-us listed in addition to -ad and -ch. I am in the process of acquiring a t1819 head unit and just want to make sure I have the correct adapters.

Also do I need the brackets that bolt it into the car or will the OEM 4runner head unit brackets work?

The stock brackets will work fine. But you will need to transfer them to the new unit.

You will need to have at least those wire harnesses if you want full functionality. You will also need another aftermarket adapter to connect both antenna wires if you want good reception.

X2. I never actually ordered the T1819, I was sent one by mistake. It turned my cheap stereo upgrade into an expensive project having to buy all the wire harnesses.
