Picked up hood. Has a little drivers side damage but for 100 it can be massaged into shape. so now the question is what to do with the scoop?? I want it to function as well as look cool. Mabey use it to direct it twords an oil/tranny coolers? can I use it to force air into my s/c?? any ideas?

no, no, no and no. I already had this convo with 3 Toyota nuts, apparently the way the front end is shaped on 4runners makes air completely jump over the hood. I didnt believe them so I put a plastic cup on my hood right where the scoop is and went down a straight road, the cup finally caught a slight breeze at 70mph. I know, its crazy but if you dont believe me go try this yourself. Its actually kind of a neat expirement.

I drilled 5 , 3/4" holes across the top of the insert to allow some airflow in when driving and an exit for heat after I stop. I didnt do it expecting any kind of performance adding, but just to try something out. I figure any kind of air movement underhood when driving or heat release after driving could only be good. I put them in the top part of the pocket so there would be any kind of water/rain running into the hood in rivers. The pocket has 2 small drain holes anyways so no need to make large ones

Matt is right about the design of the hood;a while back some engineering nerd used a program to show airflow over the Toyota frontend and hood and very little air makes it to the scoop and Matt proved that very simply.
Opening up the hood just allows crap to build up on the engine (just while parked) over time and a dirty engine runs hotter negating any performance gain you might see.
I'm a performance geek so if it even made a little difference I would've done it already.
