Just as the title states, I picked up a Cherry.
3.0
Manual
4.30
4x4
Shes clocked at 131,364 miles, and apparently was owned by an old man(8,000 MPY!)
The interior is by far superior to most anything on the market.Actually alot nicer than my 3rd gen I just let go for $5k, with a rebuilt title :(
Interior is absolutely flawless, except the Clarion head unit...:cry2:
So...
Body straight, undamaged...
No rust. Rails, and floor pans perfect. Suspension and steering tight. Brakes are awesome. The transmission apparently has a new clutch. It was broken down, as you can see the Orange "RTV"...

But....
There is some bad....:cry2::cry2::cry2:

  • Right Valve Cover is Leaking @ Rear (Suspect at the 90Degree angles)
  • Only rust on it, is in the full length of the ehaust
  • The oil pressure guage is funky. At low idle, or before 2k rpm, the guage reads at the first 1/4. At higher Rpms(anything above 2-2.5K, it reads on the 3rd quarter of the gauge???!!??? Its hanging around 40 degrees here, so I suspect it may have something to do with the oil velocity...or maybe even the sending unit??? Any Input???

After switching from a very reliable 3.4, I almost was afraid to try out the 3.0...
Seems like alot of people claim them as the "Black Sheep"
Question is...this T4R has been maintained. Do yall think, I have any worries??? It is exempt from the service campaign (Which i believe is over). I just honestly want to get a good estimate on what I can get out of it, before I have to pull the heads...

Anyways...Ill get up some pics in the morning. Just brought her home :)
Ive never purchased a vehicle other than individuals, and wrecks I have rebuilt. I always said id never fool with buyheres, or stealerships...but I could not pass it up. I picked it up for 4200 out the door...

After claybarring it, I did notice a little...residue behind the gas door? Foamy? Looked maybe like a little seafoam :toilet:

pics or it doesnt exist!

I would think it still exists, but we just can't see it. Kind of like the backs of our own heads.

That being said, pictures would sure go a long way to backing up the "cherry" claim, and would send many of us to drooling.

Thanks.
