scratched clear coat

Hi guys,

Went on a deactivated FSR to have some fun last weekend and obtained a nice scratch all along the door in the process. I'm not an expert and I don't have a buffer... The scratch is not deep at all - can't put my nail in it. Is there any easy way to remove it without making it worse?

You can use a buffer and it'll come right out, provided you know how to use one and don't cut through the clear or burn it.

If you do buff it out, I'd suggest waiting until you are ready to sell it. If you buff out scratches after each trip to the woods, you'll wear through the clear (or paint if the truck is black) and that's not good. Live with the scratches (to show it's not a mall crawler) until you're ready to sell it, then buff it out once.

There are some 'scratch hider' kits, but some use compound and buff them out. Others use fillers that last a little while (a few car washes).
