Scratches on silver interior trim bits....paint?

Has anyone ever painted the silver interior trim pieces? If so what is involved in this process? I have a few scuffs around the cupholders and a scratch on the drivers side door piece. They should be easy enough to do with a rattle can if anyone knows a color. Any thoughts?

Unless you get a perfect match on the paint (and I suspect it's unlikely you will), then these pieces will probably stand out as being different from the rest of the trim.

I would also be more enclined to attempt re-clearing them than trying to match the silver......making it match will be near impossible.

If you are talking about the center dash trim, then be careful. That thing goes for $350 at Partznet, which generally has some of the best prices. In other words: do a little research on what type of paint to use and how to do it. I would do the full monty, with primer, steel wool, and make sure it has plenty of coats.

Actually I only have a scratch on the strip that goes on the door. It does not actually match up with any other trim pieces so variation in the color would not matter. I sanded it with 2000 grit paper today and got the scratch out but now you can see a little haze. I could try reclearing it.

I've got scratches on the silver painted plastic for the center console - only on wife's side. It is obviously from the metal feet on her huge purses although she won't fess up. Even light Sanding would reveal more of the black plastic that is underneath the thin silver paint. Is there a stick on kit to cover these pieces like the fake wooden ones for the dash and door controls? Maybe a black or charcoal carbon fiber look? That silver pain just doesn't hold up at all! If it were on silver plastic vice black it would do better.

If it were me I would just go to the dealer to get a replacement part. But then again I am a perfectionist when it comes to the interior
