Screeching noise when turning.

what's good y'all?

for the past month or so whenever i make a hard turn or (depending at the angle) a turn in general, there is a slight screeching noise. i checked my power steering fluid and it looks fine... my tires aren't TOO low on tread. they have maybe 5-6k miles left on them at the least. any ideas as to what is goin' on?

Could be a rock in the dust cover of your front brakes. Had that happen a few times.

Could be a cavitating PS pump. Any work done on the PS system lately?

He's got new 17" FJ rims and 31" tires that he just put on, his truck has always run 235/75/15's until now.

Could it be rubbing somehow? Maybe your suspension is sagged to the depths of hell?

not that i'm aware of. i bought it used in october.

it was also making noise with the old tires/rims. thank you for reminding me i need to update my build thread... methinks it's picture time! :gun6:

sounds like the power steering belt could use some adjusting....i just did mine this morning cause of the same problem! everything is fine until i turn the wheel all the way (both ways) then the belt will start screeching...

and where does one find this "power steering belt" that y'all speak of? and i'm assuming your belt has stopped screeching?

It's the belt that goes up to the power steering fluid. When you are standing in front looking at the engine it's on the top left of the three belts. It's the easiest to access and tighten. However, I don't find that sound is the screech I would hear when my belt was loose.
