Thanks! I can get a picture of the radio tomorrow. I haven't messed with it all that much yet, but I like it so far. The bluetooth works well and it's nice to have the iPod capability back. I'm running 265/75/16 now. I was torn between 32's and 33's, but 32's were the practical thing to do for now.

Here is a picture of the CZ501. I kind of wish you could change the button color, but that is minor.

I also participated in a TacomaWorld Secret Santa Exchange last month. It was pretty cool seeing all the things people got each other (gps units, tools, gnomes). I ended up with a hand painted picture of this photo. The guy included some future mods I had planned like black bumpers and cladding and LX450 rims with BFG's. It definitely was a cool gift.

It's been a while since I updated this thread. My mod money has been very limited so I've doing small things here and there. I'm trying to decide what big mod I want to do next. It will either be new LBJ's and TRE's or sliders or a s/c (that would come at the end of the year).

A month back I decided to tint my extra set of taillights I had in the garage. I'd done it before, but they were too dark. I'm happy with how these came out this time. They aren't too dark and turn the red into a dark red rather than black. I used VHT Nightshades for this.

After that I finally took my 4runner up to the snow. I was all packed up when I went to get gas and heard a loud snap. Turns out my drivers side sway bar endlink decided to snap right before I was supposed to leave. So I had to call all the auto parts stores and finally found one at O'Reillys for $25. Sucked I had to spend $25 on it, but I felt safer with the swaybar on for the long trip.
Unfortunately the snow didn't show up. It's been a very depressing winter for snowboarding in California. I've been waiting for 2 years to get back to the snow and of course it doesn't snow at all. Due to the lack of snow I didn't take many pictures. It was a fun trip and the Downey coils did great with all the extra weight.

I finished some small mods this last weekend that I'd been slacking to do.

I mounted my LED maglight in the back for easy access. This has come in handy a lot and is out of the way enough that I don't notice it.

Replaced my license plate lights with LED's. I like them a lot, but my drivers side went out a few days after installing it. Not sure what is going on though.

I also added some Costco all weather mats. I'd love Weathertechs, but for $15 I couldn't not get the Costco version.

I painted my D-rings hammered black like my rims and put on the shackle mounts I got from Tineman. Perfect timing for Sundays Frank Raines trip.

I accidentally deleted the finished product pictures, but will get one up tomorrow.

Lastly, I added another "Oh ****" handle to the drivers side like BigFish. $3 at the pick-n-pull, not too shabby. I don't need the handle, but my fiance could use it.


Other than that I have some Tokico Trekmasters to install and I still need to install my diff drop.

Haha, I actually used fishing line and tied it to a plant above my garage. You guys must have some nice computer screens because I can't even see the the line and I know where they were hung from.

SCrunner, I like your set up. Im running the same size tires and am currently looking for a set of tundra coils/struts for the improved ride.

A few questions. Where did you get your tundra coils? And how do the KYB's and Bilsteins compare as far as on road ride? Right now I have KYBs, and wow they seem like stiff shocks. But I dont really have anything to compare them with as I put them on my truck right after I got it.

Why go through all the effort? Because it's awesome looking! My fiance drove up as I was painting them and had a very confused look on her face. I told her they were some new art pieces for the house. She was not amused.

I got my Tundra's off craigslist. I've used searchtempest.com and found quite a few sets from time to time. I use the search terms "tundra coil(s)" "tundra shock(s)" "tundra strut(s)" and "tundra spring(s)". It brings up a good range of results, but most of the time you have to call or email the person to double check they are the right ones.

This was the second set of Tundra TRD's I bought actually. I had a full lift set up before I even bought my 3rd gen. I had Tundra TRD's, top plate spacers, LC 7 wraps, diff drop and a 1" body lift sitting in my garage. I was determined to get 33's and ready to throw all of it on as soon I got a 3rd gen. But I decided to go lower since 33's are expensive and my Fiance is 5' 1", so she wasn't into the idea either.

The KYB's were a bit stiff, but I also had Load E tires that I put on at the same time. I like the Bilsteins much better. They are a lot more smooth and it was nice to get rid of the spacers. If you can get the 5100's as they are worth the extra money in the end. I luckily found mine for $100 brand new off craigslist.

I was considering doing the same thing on the '97, but I've heard that VHT stuff is permanent, and can't be removed with paint thinner, acetone, etc. RE the little mods, just make sure you don't do them all and run out, because they're great for holding you over between bigger things.

Try nail polish remover, works like a charm. I tried nite shading my old clear tail lights and it turned out much darker than I planned..I know I got carried away, but a wipe of the nail polish remover with a rag or cotton took care of that mistake.:biggrin2:

Eh, it was a fun trip anyways and snowboarding in just a long sleeve shirt is my favorite kind of boarding. I'm hoping we get some more snow in March because I want to head up at least one more time. I'm crossing my fingers.

Thanks, I had done it way too dark before. It's easy to get carried away as it gets darker as it dries. I ended up using Acetone and it took the nightshade off, but it left white marks on the taillights. I didn't care because they were an extra set and it all got covered when I resprayed them.

Trust me I have plenty of little mods/maintenance to do. I still want to change the dash to white LED's, replace the sway bar bushings, fuel filter and a new lighting set up in the back for my daughter. It will never end. :cheers:

Good tip, I used Acetone, which is basically nail polish remover.

I've got a major update for my build. After months of looking for sliders I've finally put my order in for a set of BAMF 68" sliders with a kickout. :reddance::guitar2: He is a local fabricator who specializes in Tacomas. He is a member/vendor on TacomaWorld and make a hybrid square/tube slider. I've always liked them, but was hesitant about buying because they are a bit more expensive than I was hoping to spend. Luckily he had a 24 hour group buy and agreed that 15+ people would receive 20% off. We ended up with 30 people making orders.I'm hoping to have them on in the next 2 months and ready for some summer wheeling.

If anyone is interested in getting some made let me know. He said he wants to get my set mocked up and finalized before extending to the 4runner community, but will most likely be more than happy to take your orders after that.

On other news I got an awesome present from Eric (t4r4life) at our wheeling trip. He ended up giving me a free CB mount. It was one the defect mounts that wasn't perfect, but I really could care less. It was extremely generous of him and now I've started looking into CB's. Maybe after I pay off these sliders I'll look into it.

I also went on a wheeling trip a month ago with some of the TacomaWorld guys and t4r4life. It was a good time although my alternator has been messing up every once in a while due to the water/mud hole I went through once. Good times though.
