SCRunner's Build Thread

Well the FX-R retro kit has officially been sold. I finally decided against doing another at this time and sold the kit to Desertrunner. I'm probably going to cry a little when I ship it out tomorrow, but that money will go to more pertinent needs elsewhere.

New Stuff!!!
On Sunday I decided to forgo wheeling with SantaCruzRunner and CrazyDubMan so I could pick up some "new" tires. I found a deal on craigslist for 4 285/75/16 Bridgestone Dueler Revo AT's for $50. Two have 75-80% tread and the other two have 60-65% tread. The only issues was the tire shop tore a chunk out of the sidewall of one of the 75% tread tires. Regardless it was too good of a deal to pass up. The tires are in good shape and will be a much welcomed upgrade from my BFG's. I'm not sure if the 4th tire can be fixed by vulcanizing it, but regardless a new tire will put me at $300 for a great set of 285's.

I'm going to look into repairing the one or holding onto them till I can find a used 4th or just buying a new tire. Not really sure yet, but we'll see.

I also installed a fire extinguisher I got from the TW Secret Santa this year. I was going to put it on the passenger side, but the storage pocket and 12v outlet got in the way. I'm happy with the placement regardless and it will be up enough out of the way when I build a storage platform eventually.

Yeah I'm excited to get them on. They will help out a ton this summer when I head out with some of the Tacoma guys. Last summer I passed on a lot of wheeling trips because I had no armor and my tires put me too close to the rocks.

Also I want to say thanks again for all your help and advice with the retro. I'm bummed I didn't follow through with this one, but the next I'm going to go even bigger. I really want to try the RX350's or Murano projectors. The Murano's have a sweet step and are getting awesome reviews as I'm sure you've seen.
 
When I saw the tires stacked up and that they were 285s, I scrolled to the bottom super fast and was very disappointed when i didn't see a mounted picture! :pout:

Haha, trust me it's killing me with them sitting in my backyard. I'm trying to find a used 4th, but I might just cave and buy a new one. I might be changing up the wheels as well at the same time. Looking into the options now on that one. I have a few leads on some tires, but I need to make some calls tomorrow. Hopefully by next week I will have another tire and can get them all mounted.

Yeah I was planning on waiting till the summer for 33's, but I couldn't pass this deal up. I might be getting a 4th brand new tire for $50 + shipping, but I have to make sure it's the correct Dueler AT.

oh yeah they should last you at least another year. now you got me looking for cheap 285s haha keep an eye out for me cause i know you are a CL master.

Haha, I'm not sure about the CL master, but more of a great procrastinator at work. Did you ever look into trading them in for 285's with Discount Tire? I'm sure it's too late now, but they might still give you some credit. I'd stick with your Duratracs as they are brand new and don't look bad on your 4runner. My BFG's had probably another year left in them, but I'd rather not head up to the snow with balding tires and the price was right for my new tires.

yeah they couldnt do it for "legal reasons" i dont blame them. i plan on rocking the duratracs until i have the extra money to spend on some 285s.
 
Get those tires mounted Rob! Sounds like a pretty good score.... Your gunna love the 285's. The extra width is nice too when your playing in the snow!

I'm trying! I could just go get a new tire, but that wouldn't allow me to possibly get some new wheels at the same time. I'm waiting on a guy in Texas to call/email me back. Otherwise there are a couple of other options I will try before getting a new one. I really want them on before my 1st snow trip of the season on the 19th. 4 days at my families cabin and Stockwell45 wants to do some snow wheeling. :banana: I'll have my budbuilt on by then as well.
 
If you sell the LX wheels, shoot me a PM. My Dad just bought a IJM 03 Tacoma and I could pursued him to buy them. haha

I definitely will. I'm preferring to sell them with the tires complete to avoid dismounting costs, but we could work something out. I'll definitely let you know. I should know more this weekend what will happen.
 
You cant let this build slip this far! I saw your current wheels for sale, soooo what new wheels did you decide on?!
