Haha, well I guess it has two meanings now. Sounds good about meeting up. I really want to set up a mod day so we can all get together.

Hmm, I work M-F so weekends work best, but we'll work something out. Hopefully you can get your 4runner running soon though.
There are a ton, but it just depends on what kind of mods you like. LED lights in the cab and instruments panels are cheap enough and nice to have. I've yet to do the instrument panels, but the map and center light LED's are very easy and cheap. The deckplate and ISR mod are easy and cheap enough if you like the sound of them. I find the ISR to be nice because it cleans up the engine bay, but keep my deckplate close at all times.

Spacer lifts are fine for the rear, but should be avoided if possible for the front. The rear spacers won't affect ride quality all that much, but the front spacer often produces a sub par ride. They are fine for a temporary lift, but don't plan on them being permanent. If you're looking for a good 1.5" lift I'd check out the 99 tall coils and possibly a 1/2" spacer from Toytec (I have a set I'm looking to sell). The 1/2" aren't going to affect the ride very much at all and will help bring the front up a bit. For the rear 1.5" spacers are fine on your stock coils if you're looking for a cheap lift, but you might want to get 2" since the rear coils may be sagging. Last thing you want is reverse rake.
Let me know if you have anymore questions. I've never really used spacers so I don't know what brands or kits are best, but you can run some by me if you want.

Are you looking to sell the full front part of the lift? if that gave me 2 in then i would just need to purchase a 2in spacer in back right?

Well it's been a while since my last update and I have a good amount of new items since then. I am still thoroughly enjoying my supercharger, but it's been leaking oil from the nose cone and has gotten a bit louder. I figured this would happen, but a little bummed it happened so soon. Regardless it needs to be rebuilt. I've been doing a lot of reading and will be replacings all of the bearings and seals to start off fresh and know all about my sc. I'm not going to lie, I'd super nervous to perform this, but I can't afford sending it off. I’m probably going to pull the SC soon and go back to stock, so I can take my time and I need to replace the valve cover gaskets. I’ll post more on this endeavor when it comes time.
Suspension wise, I’ve got some new goodies. Prior to this update I was running a set of Donahoe’s that were in need of a rebuild. I had all the parts, but never really got around to rebuilding them. Then came long this deal http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/163635-awesome-tire-deal.html. I wasn’t planning on getting new tires, but this deal was too good to pass up. I debated for a while as to which tire I wanted. I liked my previous Duratracs, but the Cooper ATP’s and AT3’s were pretty damn cheap and got good reviews. I just didn’t like that they ran small. Since I was pretty broke from the SC purchase I knew I needed to free up some cash. I ended up finding a good deal on some 5100/Eibach lift on TacomaWorld and pulled the trigger. It’s no Icon, but would be enough for my driving habits and needs at the moment.
After picking up those I ended up selling the Donahoes, which freed up enough cash for some tires.
Bye-Bye Donahoes…
I finally decided to pull the trigger on a set of 285/75/16 Goodyear Duratracs for $684 after rebates and Discount Tire coupons. Awesome price and made it worth it. Now I needed to figure out my wheel situation. I had a set of Tacoma 1st gen star 16’s and Tacoma 2nd gen Off-Road 16’s to choose from, but both of them were meh to me. I ended up finding a set of LC wheels for $130 on TW and snagged them up. I wheels got there on a Sunday and tires came on a Thursday. Got them mounted and painted the wheels semi-gloss black to match the theme.

I love the look now. Really brings the truck together and this is actually the first set of new tires I have bought for the 4runner since I owned it. It’s nice to start new.
Well I got the tires on Thursday and heading to Hollister for a TacomaWorld meet on Saturday. This trip I decided to take my 3 year old daughter, brother and 6 year old neice. I was a little nervous as to whether they would like wheeling, well they LOVED it. Both of them were yelling at me to go faster, in more puddles and mud. They called me out a couple of times because I didn’t want to go on some of the more difficult obstacles. We ended up having a great time and got me excited to wheel again with them.
They loved watching the trucks go through the frame twister.
How could you not loving wheeling with these two…

After getting the new tires and wheels I had a lot of rubbing. I needed to clearance a bit more, but also my turning radius was pretty wide with the 1.25” spacers, 285’s and 16x8 4.5bs wheels. I found some .75” spacers and decided to swap them out. I figured this would be a one beer job, but I was wrong. My spacers had become fused to the rotors and studs. I beat up one spacer pretty bad and decided to quit. Ended up getting some advice to use a putty knife and pry it off at different points. This helped a ton and proved to be the game changer. Got them off and found this.
It was because I used a gel locktite and it filled all the gaps. The spacers weren’t going anywhere which was good, but a pain to get off. So if you’re ever in the same situation, a putty knife is your best friend.

Now that I had my tires and lift squared away it was time to focus on some maintenance. I’ve had a vibration/shimmy problem for a while now and it really drove me crazy. I knew it couldn’t be the tires or wheels, but figured it might be the LBJ’s and tie rods (no pictures as it was pretty standard replacement). So I replaced those. It helped, but not as much as I had hoped. I knew my rear u joint was going bad, so I set out to replace that myself. This was one of the most frustrating repairs I have ever done on my 4runner. It fought me the entire time and I almost gave up a couple of times. I even bought a Harbor Freight 12 ton press to help with the job. Well that didn’t work out so well…

The entire thing started to bend. So I gave up on the press and brought out my inner Thor! I finally got it all back together right as it was getting dark on a Sunday. This helped as well, but I may take it in to get balanced still.
To track down the vibrations I still had I looked into getting the steering rack guide replaced as I still had the old style. I found a TW member who SAS’d his Tacoma and had a free steering rack with the new guide available. I picked it up and went to replace the guide. That definitely helped out a ton and got rid of a lot of my vibrations. I was a happy camper, but it didn’t last long. The vibrations came back and I decided it was the rack. I would have loved to buy a new OEM rack or Safari LTD rack, but sadly I don’t have the extra cash, so I decided to try out my free rack. It was in good shape and figure it was a free swap, just my time. I got some poly bushings from a TW member and went to town. It was a lot more work than I expected. The bolts came loose fine, as well as the steering lines, but the steering rag joint was stuck on the old rack. I ended up having to stick a screwdriver between the rack and rag joint and go to town. Finally got it all back together and filled the system back up. I’m happy to say my steering wheel does not shake anymore and the steering feels much more solid/tight.
If any of you have paid attention as this build proceeds is that I change my mind and find deals quite often. This last one is one of my better. I was randomly browsing craigslist when I saw a guy in Florida had a set of Tundra Icon coilovers and Total Chaos UCA’s. Best part about them is he wanted $50 for both! They were leaking and both the Icon’s and UCA’s needed rebuilding, but still an amazing deal. I texted him right away, but he said he didn’t want to ship. I was bummed, but wouldn’t let it go. I ended up bugging him a lot and working out a way to ship them with minimal work from him. He eventually shipped them to me and I was in contact with SDHQ for a rebuild kit and new 4runner shim stack since the Icon’s needed to be revalved.

My plan was to sell the UCA’s to fund the original purchase and the rebuild kits. I was in contact with [MENTION=83666]renosauce[/MENTION] and we worked out a deal since his girlfriend needed some UCA’s for her Tundra. But my craigslist scouring never stopped. While I was waiting for the quote for the rebuild parts I found a deal I could not pass up locally.
The guy was selling a pair of brand new FOX 2.5 extended travel coilovers and FOX 2.0 resi rear shocks. The price was VERY good, so I snagged them up. Unfortunately the rear shocks are for a stock Tacoma, so I couldn’t use them, but they helped lower the cost of the coilovers. So I now had two sets of coilovers and some UCA’s sitting in my office. It was quite a sight to see. I decided I would use the FOX shocks because I knew they were going to work perfect right away and the least amount of work. Plus I never really like the digressive aspect of Icon’s since most of my wheeling is slow and I wanted the best on road feel. Also the FOX come with 600lb coils rather than the 650 that Icons do. Ended up working out because Renosauce wanted the Icon’s as well, so we worked out a new deal that included some small welding projects and help pressing the bearings when I do my SC rebuild.
I got the FOX’s installed the same time as my steering rack, but this install wasn’t as smooth as others. Apparently FOX designed the top of the shock to fit through the upper mounting bucket. Well sounds like a great idea except the hole is exactly the same size if not smaller than the top of the shock. I ended up having to take a rubber hammer and go to town on the rear of the coilover to get it to fit. Unfortunately I misaligned the holes the first try, so I had to do it again. I’m not really happy with the set up, but it works and the shock is snug.
That top part goes is what goes through the bucket.
You can see how snug it is.

Once they were in, OH MY GOSH they are so nice! The front end is so smooth now. I broke a sway bar bracket and even with no sway bar my 4runner is so controlled and smooth. I love the ride and now feel like my rear Tokicos are archaic in performance. I need to get some UCA’s to get my caster back in spec and fully utilize the extended travel, but that will have to wait.
That just about covers all of my recent upgrades and will probably be the last for a while. We are planning our wedding in August and any extra cash is being saved for that. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to keep track of everything. I should have some pictures soon on some trails as I’m doing the Old Coast Road in Big Sur this weekend and heading up to my cabin for the 4th. No serious wheeling for either trips, but nice scenery.

Haha, I thought you'd like that. I'm just trying to get it to run right at this point and will look into more serious mods like bumpers and skids down the line.
A 9-5 desk job gives me lots of time to roam the internet, so they come up. Almost got a ARB Snorkel for $100 plus shipping but another member on this forum snagged it 10 minutes before me. Do I need a snorkel? No, but they are badass.
Haha thanks. I really like the set up now. I'm running spacers because of my 231mm Tundra brakes. My 93-94 LC wheels (acorn lug) don't clear the calipers, plus with the Limited flares I like the wheels to fill the empty space. I'm fine with the set up now and get very mild rubbing although I need to adjust my coilovers for more lift.

You go through more setups in one post than most guys go through in an entire build thread! I love it! The truck looks great though man. Craigstlist is your worst nightmare with a desk job. Trust me I know. Allofcraigslist has become my new best friend for my job this summer. I can't complain though, I managed to find some doug thorley headers brand new for 300 shipped! Gotta love it..

Hahaha I've been a bit excessive, but I've found my set. Nothing is wrong with these and will last me quite a while as is. I've been thinking of creating a thread of the many wheel/tire and suspension set ups. Nice find on the headers! If I get some it will be much later down the road. I need the 7th first.

Thanks a lot! I'm very happy with the look now, but want to get a real paint job at some time. I sprayed them with plasti-dip then gloss black duplicolor. It's holding up well, but starting to fade and some spots are peeling slightly.

I still need to find me some as well. Unfortunately the TC's are for a Tundra otherwise I would have put them on my 4runner. Unless I find a deal I'll probably just get LR since they are cheap and allow the most caster adjustment. Plus I'm not too into the squeaking uniballs that some UCA's are prone to.
That's what I thought as well, but apparently it's the right way. I believe they use this top hat with non-resi applications, although newer FOX coilovers have a different top hat. It's a weird design and I'm not sold on it, but it fit after some persuasion.
