I figured I could always go back and add it later if I wanted. Since you see a lot of snow it's a harder choice, but I don't need the ABS all that much here in sunny California. $200 is a good price, especially if the CV's are in good shape. I wouldn't even bother with the diff. I only took mine was because it was included in the price. I should be able to sell it for $100, so that brings my initial cost to $75. Not bad at all for a fun mod to do.

Well I've been pretty busy with the 4runner lately. I had stated before that I was going to be armored and injected pretty soon, which finally became a reality a couple of weekends ago. Jerry at BAMF hosted a mod day so I made it a point to work on the 4runner unobstructed. Every time I work on it at home I'm torn between family time and finishing the job. Well I made sure I had a full day to work.
I had picked up an ARB bumper that had seen better days. It was off a SAS'd Tacoma and definitely served it's purpose over time. The seller was 2.5 hours south of me so I convinced the wife to take a day trip to pick it up. That day trip ended up being an overnight and the whole thing cost close to buying new...but we had a great time, so it was totally worth it. Picked up the bumper for $300, but upon picking it up the guy showed me that the mounting brackets were cut up to work with the SAS.
Would have been nice to know that before, but I wasn't about to turn back around with nothing.
I had also found a killer deal on a URD 7th injector kit on TacomaWorld. The seller was first selling everything, but the fuel pump and injector for $300. I contacted him and found out he wasn't selling the injector because he didn't have the backing plate to replace it with. Another member helped me out and I had a 7th injector kit for $300 shipped. I only needed the fuel pump which I found for $60. I was pretty pumped, but nervous about the install since I have never soldered before.
After talking with Jerry at BAMF we decided to just weld the brackets for the ARB right onto the frame. It would be stronger and he was confident I wouldn't have an issue.
I have to adjust it a bit more and I'm going to paint it soon, but I'm just happy it's on there. I will be cutting off the lower portion to the wings as Brian2Sun and J-Money$$$ have in the past and maybe some more modifications I have in mind.
I also got he 7th installed thanks to a TW member who knows how to solder. I luckily got a harness adapter with my kit that allowed me to do all the wiring outside of the truck and I simply had to unplug the stock plugs, plug the harness in and then plug the stock ones into the other end of the harness. Allowed me to retain stock wiring and it's very easy to bring back to stock for any reason. I forgot to take pictures, but will tonight.
I haven't installed the fuel pump as I ran out of time or a 2.2 pulley, but will in the next few weeks.
I can definitely feel a more uniform power distribution and no more lean at higher RPM's. Once I get it tuned right it will be awesome.
My last update will have some of you guys who have followed my thread rolling your eyes. I got new wheels....I know what you are thinking, but this is the absolute last time. I've always loved the LC wheels and never really planned on switching, but I was sick of running spacers and my wheels wouldn't work with the TBU without modifications.
Well luckily I had received some extra cash at work and SCS finally got their shipment in. I was really debating whether to get the F-5 or SR8 and after seeing all 3 of SCS's wheels at the mod day I picked a winner.
16x8 F-5's in Matte Black. Pure sexiness!
Fit nicely over the manual hubs (which need a paint job now that they show permanently.
I am absolutely in love with these wheels and couldn't be happier with my choice. The lines are perfect and it compliments my 4runner very well. Best of all I have been having vibration issues for way too long up front and after getting these installed they are all gone. I finally enjoy driving the freeway again.
Next up is a set of FOX 2.0's I picked up from a 2nd gen Tacoma. The lower mounting end is smaller on the Tacoma's, but I already ordered replacement rod ends with the right bushings. Hopefully I can get them installed today or tomorrow. I also was told by my wife I HAVE to paint my hood because it looks horrible black. So I'll be shopping around for a painter. I'll be going to Yosemite this weekend, so I'm hoping to get some nice shots on the way.

FFS you have been holding out on us! You got so much done!
Did you the the tuning software for the 7th injector? The R4 program?
Do you have an AFR gauge yet?
Don't install the pump quite yet. I just did a 1000 mile highway trip towing a trailer and really didn't need the pump. I got 10 mpg running 80 mph. (Towing mind you)
So hold off for right now.
As for my AFR you want to get a gauge installed. Mine are at 3 psi boost at 3k jumps down to 13.7. Then on up to 4.5k RPM and 6 psi I'm at 12.2. I can defiantly tell (hear not feel) when the truck is lean then gets that extra fuel to jump down to into the 12s and it just pulls.
Where did you get your 2.2 at?

I have not done any tuning yet. I've only driven on it for about 2 weeks now and my computer CD drive is broken, so I have to find a new computer to use. I did get the software from the PO though. My next big purchase is a AFR gauge pending the Ultragauge AFR reading isn't correct.
Have you compared your AFR reading the reading on the Ultragauge? It seems somewhat accurate.
I did a WOT on the freeway today and the UG read .816 as my lambda, wich is about 11.9 AFR. I'll be doing some serious testing when I get back from my trip and have the time.
I got the 2.2 from a member on here. It's got some scratches from removal, but nothing to effect performance.
They weren't really in my budget, but they were totally worth it. It has changed the look and driving experience completely. Plus not having to deal with spacers anymore is totally worth it.

No man I mainly look at my gauge because I already have it and don't want to do any converting as I'm driving. So your already getting a great tune out of the box? I wonder if something on mine is not working properly because I had to do some crazy tuning and changing a bunch of stuff to get it to even activate the injector.
Maybe I'll look at it all again.

Keep in mind I got mine used, so the PO could have tuned it already. I won't know till I get it hooked up to a computer.
Exactly, after seeing all three it was crystal clear that these were the right ones for me. I do still love the SR8's, but just a little too much bling for me.

I plan on painting it when I have some free time, but may wait till I can make some adjustments...
Now that my 4runner has been running great lately, I decided to take it on a family camping trip to Yosemite. Before the new wheels I wouldn't have done it as the ride was uncomfortable, but now it's smooth. Packed the car up full and threw the bikes on the back expecting some rain Friday night. No problem since my parents have an RV we could wait out the rain in, but something different happened. :wow2:
I woke up at 5:30 AM to my wife complaining the tent was caving in on her. I had placed a tarp over it to repel the rain, but it happened to snow around 4 AM and was getting very heavy. After trying to fix the tent for 20 min, we all were awake and sitting in a white Yosemite. So naturally I decided to jump in the 4runner for a drive around the park. It was absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful.
We made our own Olaf!
It was a cold day, but by Sunday afternoon it was pretty much all melted. Ended up being an awesome trip and a lot of fun. So happy my daughter could get a snow day in this year and we still got to ride our bikes around.
Yosemite Falls
The 4runner performed flawless and I can't wait for the next trip with the family.
In other news I will have a couple new additions coming up in the next month. My wife is going to kill me, but I couldn't resist.
Also getting a new 3/16" skid from a TW member for super cheap.

Bummed I can't make it this time. Hopefully next one I'll be able to go.
Looks like the front diff seal is no longer leaking and so I can finish breaking in my new rear gears.
Your runner is looking great with the new wheels and bumper. We need to get together again soon. :cheers:

Exactly, I'll be all set. Just confirmed with the wife that I am going and the kid is coming too.
Bummed you can't either, it's been too long since we wheeled together. We'll get something going soon though.
Yeah it's kind of a POS, but I guess it's worthy enough of transporting my bumper. :biggrin2:
