SCRunner's Build Thread

Nice find on the lc80's. Just making sure you're aware the earlier year ones use different style lug nuts than what you have currently. Also, put up a post on ih8mud looking for a lc80 center cap. I was looking for some for mine a while back and got many replies over there trying to sell me 1 or 2 of them. In my opinion, they don't look too bad without them.. but my truck by no means looks as purty as yours :D.Good luck!

Yay LC80 wheels! Can't wait to see it!

BTW I vote paint them gunmetal, the red on your truck is too dark to add go and black to it. But it's your truck and your decision, ill be stoked either way!

Yes, LC wheels FTW!!!

Haha, yeah I'm excited to get them on. I need to work with them though to get some of the edges smooth.

looking good

I am driving up next week to norcal, I want to hit up hollister. I havent been on a trail ever since I lifted my car.

Definitely, I could be convinced to go out again.

nice. cant wait to see them put on. Once they're black with the red body will look goood.

Yeah I really like the black and red together. I'm hoping one day to black out the bumpers, flares and cladding, but I'm not sure how I want to go about that yet.

Thanks for the tip. They came with the lugs so I'm happy I don't have to go searching for the right ones. I saw a couple of threads with people selling center caps, but they wanted $20 so I'm just going to wait and see if I like them without. If not then buying one would be fine. Also you truck is purty, just in its own way. Plus yours will be real purty once you put on 4 items that are in your garage (if you haven't already)...;):

Glad to hear you liked hollister hills :)

As much as I hate mud, it makes Hollister so much more fun. It's too easy when it's dry, but the mud adds some difficulty. Next time I'm hoping we don't get sidetracked for so long because we missed out on a lot of trails.

Way to sneak that in. I'm not sure about gunmetal, but I'll check out MTXDEW8 (not sure I spelled that right) LC wheels. I'm pretty sure he painted his gunmetal.

Im sure you can talk them down. 15 shipped would prob be a good price.

Haha, I had to get rid of them.. I got too sweet of a deal on those Lexus wheels and needed money after I bought them lol. I'll get some more soon, no worries. Plus this gives me time to get my truck more suited for them.

Btw, I vote gunmetal as well.

Yeah $15 shipped wouldn't be bad. Too bad about the tires, but the LX450's were worth it. I saw a stock 3rd gen in town that had the 450's, but they were extremely dirty and I'm sure the guy didn't even know what he had.

I'm not sure about the gunmetal. I've always been a fan of the black and I don't know how the gunmetal will look with the topaz flares. Maybe I will do one of each and see what I like best.

Here is MTdewX8's sunfire with graphite rims. They aren't gunmetal, but close enough. Tempting...

We had our Bay Area Mod Day today and I finally got to work on my 4runner. I've been needing to replace my front Tundra shocks with the 5100's I had bought a few weeks back. I'd been putting it off, but I finally had the excuse I needed. This is my 3rd time installing shocks and coils and I've gotten it down pretty well. It now takes me 15 minutes to put the new shock/coil assembly in by myself per side. A lot better than the first time. :reddance:

We had a great time at the mod day and I ran out of time before getting my diff drop on. Hopefully next weekend I can take the time. I definitely noticed a difference between the KYB shocks I had before and the 5100's I have now. My tires suck so the ride is still a bit harsh, but a good improvement. Well worth the extra money.

Now to the pictures...getting started.

The good stuff.

Much better.

I will take some measurements tomorrow, but I'm definitely a lot more level than before. I should have ~.5" of rake with the 5100's in, which is perfect.

I am on the 2nd notch also, it rides phenomenally! I just thought yours was set higher cause your rig sits WAY closer to level than mine... Then I remembered you have Downey 3" coils and not the LC coils like me! I can't wait to see it with the new tires/wheels!

I still need to get my diff drop on, but the 5100 handled really well wheeling this weekend. Just need to get some new rear shocks.

Thought I would update this with some new plans for my 4runner. I've been needing tires and finally decided on a used set of BFG AT 265/75/16 load D with about 60% tread. I'm going to pick them up this weekend and was originally going to pair them with the LC rims I picked up. Well I started prepping the LC rims when I found a set of LX450 rims for $120. I'm going to get the LX rims and sell the LC rims since they are a little beat up. The LX rims are in Portland so I'll either have them shipped here or if I can have someone bring them down. This means I will have to hold off on getting my new tires mounted and wait for the LX rims to arrive. I'm pretty pumped right now about it.
