Scuffed my front bumper, help

So I scuffed my front bumper, I figured my only option would be to repaint it . Or buy a new one. And I realy dont want to buy a new one.

Any paints you guys recomend that might stick to this type of plastic?

What can I do. I dont mind removing it and painting it. I just dont want it to flake off in 2 weeks.

Probably got it running over a smart car.

I just used some rustoleum for my steps and rear bumper. I will have to tell you how it holds up. I put a ton of coats on there so we will see.

Autozone does have Bumper paint so you can check that out too.

Check out a product called Plasti-Dip. It is a black, rubbery plastic that comes in an aerosol can, but once applied and dry, forms a flexible rubber-like skin that works better on plastics than paint. I've painted all sorts of things, and I would say the easiest thing for you to do is buy some Krylon Fusion Black spraypaint. (Fusion is the plastic version of Krylon).

Skip rustoleum. If you can find some Duplicolor plastic paint, Id use that but I dont think they make it.

Krylon is the best in my opinion for plastic though. Just wipe down the bumper with acetone, and spray. No primer needed.

Duplicolor does make a plastic paint. I had very bad results on my rear bumper top step--it all flaked off. I haven't used Krylon on the car, but I painted my pool system white vinyl Sched. 40 pipes Hunter Green and it has held up beautifully outside in the sun and rain since 2005. So I guess it can handle car duty, I may try it. Note: it does require aggressive degreasing, I went to wiping down with mineral spirits after a false start on the pipes. Acetone is also good, I assume.

Friend of mine tried plasti dip on his bumpers, and it didnt last. Sort of just pealed right off. I assume maybe it was his prep because others seem to love it.

What do I need to do to gaurentee the plasti dip will last ?
or any paint for that matter, degreaser and acetone ?

I know the scuff isnt major, but right now im in the process of coating my frame with POR 15 (amazing stuff i gotta say but it does not come off your arms lol). Im also replaceing the chrome part of my front bumper since rust is starting to bleed through.

The actual valance itself is easy to find and cheap, I have replaced mine 3 times. I would consider that if you're not planning to scrape it up offroad anyway.

First valance I bought was at the junkyard for $20. Second was a certifit part for $30.

Looks like I'm due for another, but I'm holding out since i'll likely scrape it again and I want a shrockworks.

ive givin up on yards in my area , they normaly want outrageous amount of money for used stuff thats also crap and beat. Ive had best luck with ebay and craigslist .

Would this aftermarket piece fit ok you think? Im gona try the plasti dip first, but this price is very reasonable if the plasti dip doesnt work out.

Dont use plasti dip man. Ive used it, and its not nearly as good as the stuff below. Ive used this stuff personally and I really like the way it looks. Somewhere between a flat black and very low gloss black. It leaves a really tuff finish. Better than any other paints Ive used so far (non polyurethane). And, as you can see for yourself, is made for bumpers and trim

that does look good, what did you use for prep ?

Just the typical prep. Sanded it well and then primed it. I think a 220 grit would be pretty good for you. The valance is a pretty big part though. You will probably need 2 cans of the paint if you want to do several good layers.

My mudflaps and flares are a bit aged but I used Duplicolor bumper trim on 'em and they came out nice but I'm curious to see how they handle winter. If I do them again in the spring I may use a proper plastic paint but so far so good.
