SE brake upgrade?

There is something wrong with my right front brake, I believe the pad has worn out and it is just metal on metal right now.
So i'm guessing i'll have to replace the rotor, pad and possibly the caliper.
I'm having it checked out tomorrow.
Instead of just replacing them with the SR5 setup I was thinking of going to the bigger SE brakes for the front.

-Does anyone know what parts i would need for this?

-Where is a good cheap online place to buy toyota parts, should i go with oem?

-Worth the upgrade?

Thanks

A few have done it with good results. You need rotors, calipers and pads for the 13.3 inch setup. You'll need 17" wheels as well, 16's won't work. Napa has everything including good rotors. I personally would use Napa calipers and premium rotors w/ Toyota pads.

This is a great thread if you're about to tackle brakes. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/maintenance/36979-front-brake-caliper-pad-replacement.html

I have an SR5 and did the brake upgrade. as long as you know how to do brakes safely go ahead and DO IT. it does make a nice difference. if you want you can do the stainless braided brake lines while your at it.

I wouldn't bother.

I offroad w/ MCL_68 & he has 17" aftermarket wheels. He wished he had the SR5 size brakes, because it would have been easier to find wheels.

Thanks for the responses. I do have the 17 inch rims. when i upgrade my rims I will be going the same or bigger.

I read somewhere that you need bigger dust shields?

Does napa have the toyota oem pads?

I would like to do them myself, but i have on street parking, its cold as hell and don't know anyone with a garage :sobbing:

You don't need dust shields. I didn't use them.
